MICHELLEXXXX has some great suggestions. I work in an office and ALWAYS keep snacks on hand (oatmeal, almonds, popcorn, peanut butter) so that I'm not raiding the candy jar when I'm hungry. On a daily basis I bring with me baby carrots, yogurt, and berries. Since you are a nurse I'm not sure what the regulations are about you keeping food around but I'm sure you could keep something in your locker that would work.

They do look tempting. Does anyone mind if I ask how much? And how do you make turkey jerky at home MichelleXXX? We love Jerky. It would be great to have the recipe or a site to refer to....
Thanks!

I just ordered these (shipped to my workplace, not my home - so my son won't get into them). I'll check back here and let you know what I think after I receive them and try a few. I decided it was worth a try, and about the same price as buying a snack from the vending machines 14 times!

I can relate to that; I also work on a unit where we don't sit down more than 5 minutes in a shift most days, even to chart. A few options I like that keep in my inner scrub pocket:
-spinach protein bars (homemade; tightly saran wrapped)
-a bag of raw almonds
-turkey jerky (homemade in dehydrator)
-zucchini chips (dehydrator)
-other dehydrated veggie chips/rings (red peppers, sun dried tomatoes, green beans)
-string cheese (it keeps in good all day without refrigeration)

I also like to make green smoothies; they go down quick and provide tons of energy.

I do eat fresh produce, but live in a smallish town and whole foods or trader joes is not an option unless I want to travel 50 miles or so. I am also a nurse and though small town we have a very large hospital and very busy days. I would love to snack on celery or actually eat lunch but working in critical care a lot of times not an option. These snacks are at least healthy and will give me some get up and go instead of grabbing a snickers bar at the vending machines.

I would recommend joining a csa and snacking on fresh produce if healthy variation delivered to your door is your reason for joining "Go snacks".

I do something similar through another company. I like it just because I like trying new things and they had a lot of snack combinations that looked interesting. I get a box with 4 snacks a week. I can't say its helped my diet or nutrition goals, but I think its fun.

I saw the ad and checked out the website and actually they look pretty good. My job is on the go and a lot of times I have no time for lunch and end up eating something I should not later. Everything is organic and delivered to your door step. I just wondering if anyone gets them and what do you think about them?
