Don't feel bad about the Atkins bars. I tried one once (my local CVS sells them individually) and I thought the thing tasted vile. As in, even t hough I paid $2 for the stupid thing, I couldn't even finish half. Had to throw it away.
Protein bars are all pretty much the same; the main things to check for on the label are the sugar content, and since you're on Atkins, the carb count. Otherwise, the only real difference is flavor, and what tastes good to me won't necessarily be good to you. Protein bars can vary wildly by brand and flavor.
Personally, these days I vastly prefer to make my own. Cheaper, tastier, and I can control what goes in them... no frankenfoods.
