According to Dr. Davis in Wheat Belly, even whole wheat isn't good for you. The wheat we are eating today has been modified to produce higher yields and make it weed, pest, and drought-resistant. And in turn, it is unhealthful, addictive, and can leave you hungrier and with stronger cravings.
I know that there are lots of books and advocates for different eating styles and all have different studies and science backing up their assertions, so I'm not saying Dr. Davis is the last word on wheat or any kind of healthful diet. But I can say with absolute certainty that, FOR ME, the elimination of wheat has also ended my constant food cravings.
And without wheat I am actually eating MORE calories and still losing. I'm having cream in my coffee, steak, eggs, CHEESECAKE (crustless), and lots and lots of delicious fresh veggies - usually roasted in olive oil. And I feel fantastic, am losing weight on the scale, and am seeing even better results in how my clothes fit.
Everyone needs to figure out what works best for them - both physically and mentally, so this is just my experience.
