The time of day you have your dinner does not really matter. Your body does not say "since it is after xx hour I will store all this food as fat". So don't stress about what time you eat.
The "hidden" part of your question I think is how to manage the later dinner time without going over your nutrition plan.
I like to batch cook on the weekends and pre-portion into serving size freezers boxes so I can just pull one out to heat up when it is late and I am hungry. Having a quick prepared meal ready really does help with not grabbing anything - and usually crap - just because it is there & I am too tired to cook.
You do not even have to batch cook, just make it a habit to set a serving aside from your regular meals to build variety in your freezer selections, so you don't get bored eating the same leftovers every single day.
