Where do you work?? Fast food or restaurant? Water is still available. Plain soda water even.

I could do that. I'd have to lock it into a tote at work designated for that. It's a pain but very possible I suppose

Can't you just bring your own bottled water, and drink it on your break?

That's not policy, but it's almost impossible. Simply because we cannot have beverages in front of guests. We cannot buy beverages unless we are on break. Or before or after. And the only free beverages are soda. So sometimes (not all the time) it is just not possible.

I hear ya, Becky. What? No water fountains? Why can't you bring your own bottled water to work? We have several vending machines where I work and each one has bottled water in there to purchase.

My hubby and I successfully kicked the diet soda routine. Now we drink water. We buy bottled flavored water for home and we have bottled plain water stored in the garage (it's our hurricane stash.) When I get up in the morning I grab a bottle of flavored water (0 calories) out of the refrigerator. I drink half and save the other half for my drive to work. When I get to work I stop at the water fountain to rinse and then refill my bottle. I keep doing that throughout my workday. About once every two weeks I treat myself and buy a diet soda in our cafeteria. It works for me and I hope it helps you too.

I agree that that policy sounds a little wacky, and may even be against the law if it's really the case.

But, I drink a diet coke every morning, a 12oz can. Hasn't hurt my weight loss or anything, and I'm not really willing at this point to give it up due to the caffeine withdrawals it would give me. I would need to take time off work to deal with that LOL!

"Well at my new job the only thing you can drink on the clock is soda"

What??? Surely you can drink water. They can't MAKE you drink soda. What about diabetics? Or people that don't drink soda? Or that are trying to lose weight?

There's no way the policy is "drink soda or nothing". Even if you work for a soda company, and the policy is "you can only drink Our Company's products on the clock", Pepsi has Aquafina and Coke has Dasani.

With a policy like that, I'd just dump the container of soda and refill with water. Unless they do spot inspections, who will know the difference?

Can't you have bottled water? My husband's employer requires any drinks to be in a covered container so he has a thermos cup or reusable water bottle he uses. I don't see how legally a company can tell you that you can 'only" have soda.

So I officially kicked diet soda for almost two weeks. Well at my new job the only thing you can drink on the clock is soda. So I'm back on the diet soda. I only drink about 12 ounces or so but I want something to drink. Thoughts?
