Since becoming more interested in nutrition over the last year or two, the biggest thing Iíve learned is that practically every issue regarding the optimal diet is divided. Whether it be veganism or primal eating, grains vs. no grains, soy vs. dairy, non-GMO vs. GMO, there are many arguments (and sometimes pretty heated ones) over what is best for your body. So in an effort to maintain my sanity, I try to do as much research as possible and go with what feels right for my body and lifestyle. Regarding the soy issue, here are just two brief articles/blogs discussing soy. I am sure SparkPeople has a few articles on the issue as well.
Personally, I have a history of breast cancer in my family, so I try to limit my soy intake (as Iíve read it mimics estrogen in the body). I also have read, and someone mentioned in a prior post, that it interferes with thyroid function. So just as a precaution, I donít eat soy daily (but I havenít eliminated it from my diet). I think as long as youíre making healthy strides and eating a wide variety of healthful foods, then youíre on the right track!
