The ground flax seed doesn't seem to add any texture or flavor. The whole seeds would add texture buy I've read that your body absorbs the nutrients better if ground. My DH bought whole seeds the last time so I run them through my little coffee mill.
I like chia seeds also and they do add an "interesting" texture.
I also take a high grade fish oil (Barlean's). I am 66 years old and my cholesterol is great. Best in 30 or so years. Of course I probably have good genes but my efforts to be healthy have paid off.
Next month we will be camping and hiking in Alaska over 3 weeks and just realized our parents would not have been able to make the trip at our age. So congratulations to you for taking good care of yourself.
