If you aren't hungry, I wouldn't worry about it. For years I couldn't eat breakfast, and I even worked a physical job! It wasn't until March of this year that I started to eat breakfast, and now I try to not go without it. Even now I have to wait a few minutes.

Everyone is different. As long as you don't find yourself pigging out all day, I say it's ok. It's generally not recommended, but there are a lot of people who can't stomach food when they first get up and as others have said, if you have to force yourself, it's not a good idea. You have to do what works for you :)

Sometimes the way I write can come across the wrong way. I apologize if I offend anyone. I also have a habit of writing LOOOOOOOONG posts. Again, my apologies.

I have a hard time with this, I first get my husbands medications & Breakfast ready then start on my activities for the day before I realize I haven't eaten. Unless I get hungry, it is afternoon before I eat. emoticon

Thanks guys! Almost everyone said that they personally don't eat for at least two hours. This helps me out, now I am not going to worry about it until I get hungry. :D

I can't eat first thing either. I usually eat within 3 hours of waking a very light meal. Then eat lunch early.

Eat when you are hungry. Like you, the last thing I want to do upon waking up is eat. I usually have breakfast two or three hours after waking up. I'm losing weight so it works for me.

Do what your body feels comfortable with and what works for you. If I woke up feeling really hungry every morning, I'd eat upon waking, regardless of what a study here or there says. :-)

My unscientific guess is that waking up hungry or not has to do with natural body cycles and depending on what part of it you are in when you wake up determines if you are hungry or not.

I usually eat breakfast 3 hours after I get up. I get up and 4 a.m. and don't eat anything until 7 a.m. I do drink a bottle of water, though, between 4 and 7.

I don't have trouble eating breakfast within the first hour, but I only eat it if I've got to go out to work (being mostly retired, that doesn't happen very often.) Normally I get up and make a cup of tea, but I don't have breakfast till I've been up an hour or two.

Another vote for eating when you're hungry. I get up at 715, I don't eat breakfast until 2 hours later after I get to work. And even then, it's a small breakfast of around 250 calories.

Working on maintaining at 140!

I generally don't eat breakfast until about two hours after I get up. I wake up at 5:30, run, shower, get the kids fed, and by the time I'm done with all that, it's about 7:30. It hasn't affected my weight loss.

Here's another vote for "don't worry about it." I know there's a theory out there that you need to "jumpstart your metabolism," but there's no scientific evidence for that, and I don't even remember a single person saying, "I started losing weight just by eating breakfast earlier."

Personally, I think any time you have to FORCE something, it isn't good to do.

I do not eat breakfast until about 2 hours after I get up because of medical reasons and I don't have any issues losing weight (you know, when I actually follow the plan ;) )

I rarely eat until I have been up for an hour or two. For the first hour I feel kind of sick at the thought of eating. If I wait just a bit longer then I am fine.

I personally wouldn't worry about forcing yourself to eat more food than you are hungry for.

I don't have a whole lot of advice, either.
I don't ALWAYS eat breakfast within an hour - because I walk the dog first, and other things, often, before getting around to doing so.

I believe there are people who propose different advice, so I guess go with whatever works for you.

HOnestly, I don't know what advice to give, as I am not a nutritionist. I do eat breakfast, but I don't eat first thing... usually 1-2 hours after I get up.

If you can't/don't want to eat that early, don't. I'm generally the same way in that I really don't feel the need to eat until late in the morning. As long as you're getting the nutrients you need, I don't worry about it.

Everything I have read says to eat breakfast within an hour of waking up. I can't seem to stomach it. I wake up around 7:30 and I don't get hungry until 11 (After my workout at 10). I can drink water or coffee, but everytime I try to eat a small breakfast, I can only get a couple of bites down, and it's very forced.
This morning I tried plain oatmeal with a dollop of peanut butter. I could only eat three bites before I felt too full to continue. If I eat breakfast at 11, I can eat the whole bowl with no problem. I get hungry later in the day when I am more active.
I have tried eating something lighter like a yogurt or apple, but I don't like eating those things before a workout because it makes my stomach feel weird.

Should I be force feeding myself breakfast, or just wait until 10 to start eating.
