Here's an Ask the Expert that explains how to adjust your calorie range to account for an active job:

Hope that helps,

Get your average weekly calorie burn, and enter that into your fitness goals. SP will alter your dietary range if needed.

I would be cautious with that figure, though; it may be overestimating.

I would bump it up a bit, at least 200 calories.

I am not a dietician, however.

I was eating 1200-1400 and losing 2 pounds a week for the past 6 weeks. I am not starving and eat a lot of whole foods.

I am called back to work and i will be gardening for 4 hours everyday. I checked out the calories burned in the 4 hours. It says 1000 calories burned.

So my question is how much do i up my calorie intake? I still want to loose more weight as i have about 40 pounds to lose. But i also know i am going to need more calories with this type of work.
