Okay! I am new to the message boards so I apologize ahead of time if I misstep here somehow. I figured hormones fit in with nutrition more than fitness, since they affect the way you process your food.
Alright. Without actually getting tested, how do I figure whether I am estrogen or testosterone dominant? My understanding is that carrying weight in your lower body indicates a higher level of estrogen, belly fat indicates testosterone (hence the famous beer gut), and a balance of top and bottom means you have pretty balanced levels.
The problem-and I know I'm not the only one here-is that I am pear-shaped and don't neatly fit into any of those categories. I carry my weight in my belly, butt, and thighs. My upper body isn't exactly svelte but since I don't quite fill out a 32AA bra I think it's safe to say I'm not prone to weight gain up top. So I'm a bit fuzzy about where I sit.
This is more a curiosity thing. I can't think of any immediate use for the information but it's bugging me.
