I'm not so sure it's JUST fiber. I think it's bulk too. If fiber was the only concern, you could add Benefiber to your shake (or crush fiber supplements, as you mentioned).
but...if you add a salad or steamed (or raw) veggies as Becky mentioned, you get add'l fiber AND some substance AND some nutrients for not many calories. It's so easy to grab a bag of salad greens or 'washed and ready to eat' produce these days. Or slice some squash and steam it in the microwave.
or zap a sweet potato in the microwave. I do that all the time. I eat them plain. It's a quick filling afternoon snack before I head to the gym or something I can eat with a salad for dinner.
