I can tell you what green tea CAN do.
If you drink green tea (or any other tea) INSTEAD of a high-calorie flavored beverage like soda or coffee loaded with cream and sugar, it can cut calories while still providing you with flavor. If you are replacing a calorie-laden beverage, it can help cut calories more, and in my experience, a cup of hot tea will often quell snack cravings, improve hydration, and makes it super easy to hit my water goals.
It won't "burn fat" or break a plateau, but it's got its uses!
