I'd disagree with Heather and say no and no.
Since half a cup of honey is (apparently) over 500 calories, if you were on any kind of weight loss total intake, you would not have enough calories left to provide 'nutrition' to your body.
The 1200 minimum for women is about nutrition, not calorie value. So if we assume you need to get 1200 calories of nutrition on top of 500 calories of pure honey daily, that's 1700 calories. That's quite high for a weight loss plan, and less likely to be successful.
How do you eat half a cup of honey daily? Do you spoon it in, put it on toast, what do you do with it? Perhaps you can substitute some and cut back others.
But ultimately yes absolutely you need to cut that WAY back. As Heather ended, half a cup of honey daily is not moderation.
