I recently made the switch. :) I'm trying to cut back on processed stuff, and look now for things with the fewest possible ingredients.
Look at the ingredient list on your package of instant oatmeal. Here, I'll show you the one from mine:
WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED OATS (WITH OAT BRAN), SUGAR, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, SALT, CALCIUM CARBONATE, GUAR GUM, OAT FLOUR, CARAMEL COLOR, NIACINAMIDE*, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, REDUCED IRON, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE*, RIBOFLAVIN*, THIAMIN MONONITRATE*, FOLIC ACID*.
Now, let's look at the ingredients list on my can of old fashioned oats:
WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED OATS.
See the difference?
I have the 1 minute kind. There are NO added anythings to it and it takes about a minute to cook. According to the package, you can nuke them in about 2 minutes.
I add brown sugar, blueberries, and a bit of maple syrup to mine. They definitely taste MUCH better, and I am not getting the extra crap, AND they're about a million times cheaper.
What's not to love?
