I have chocolate!

Today I tried a new bar, NuGO organic double dark chocolate. It only has 10 gram protein per serving, so not the best bar for that purpose, but it really was a nice chocolate bar.

There are some really good ideas posted! Usually when I 'm wanting chocolate nothing else will do. I allow myself one or two dove chocolates. I don' t chew but let the chocolate melt. It makes it last longer and satisfies my craving with just a small amount.

I know that's not the answer you were hoping for. But if I'm craving something, I usually have it. Depending what it is, it'll probably be a smaaaaall quantity. Most chocolate treats I have these days are dark chocolate, which nutritionally is much better for you.

If you are a sugar addict the only way is slowly move to total abstinence. Once I am through that early abstinence period I then do not want it and never have it. I would start with moving to 3 regular meals and no snacks. Have chocolate after one of the meals. Only eat clean/paleo except for the chocolate.
Then give up all chocolate and for many of us all fruit and dried fruit too as otherwise you can substitute the fruit/dried fruit for sugar and keep the sugar addiction alive.

Once you are through it it is easy because you don't want it any more.

Also try taking chronium tablets and glutomine powder which can stop sweet cravings when you start out.

a) have chocolate
b) use unsweetened cocoa powder or chocolate flavoured whey protein powder in my yogurt or oatmeal. I sometimes make brownies from black beans and unsweetened cocoa powder.

hum, I tried to post a response just a few minutes ago but it didn't want to go thru. I said that lately I have been craving the chocolate- peanut butter cups. I have found that the mini-cups (1 or 2 at the most) are just enough to satisfy my cravings so that I don't need to over do with the regular size or the jumbo ones. Ohhh dear, just writing about it is bringing on a need for chocolate, guess I will just have to continue with my SP mail and stuff and delay that craving for as long as I can. LOL

Hershey's Bliss Dark Chocolate squares. One little square is about 35 calories and they're delicious. Even if you eat two, you haven't blown your calorie count to pieces and it really satisfies that dark chocolate need.

Also, Ghirardelli Chocolate - Intense Dark Twilight Delight 72% Cacao (1 square) - OMG! 67 calories and totally worth it.

When I want chocolate, I eat chocolate. It is usually a small piece of dark chocolate, which I love. Hershey's has those miniature dark chocolate bars and they are low in calories. I eat one slowly and savor the taste. Plus dark chocolate is good for you too! I have the best of both worlds!

Lindt 85% dark chocolate - the chocolate fix in a two squares because it's so intensely chocolaty, plus it has less sugar, and even a few grams of fiber, unlike milk chocolate.

In the winter sometimes I make hot chocolate with almond milk, plain cocoa powder, vanilla and some liquid stevia, and that also satisfies the chocolate craving for well under 100 calories.

Greek Yogurt with Cocoa Powder
I stumbled over this idea while reaching for the vanilla to add to my Fage 0% Fat Plain Greek Yogurt. I usually mix my plain yogurt with Splenda or Stevia, vanilla extract, and sometimes cinnamon. Last week, while reaching for the vanilla, I noticed the Hershey's Cocoa Powder and read the label. 10 Cals for 1 Tablespoon and no sugar. I added 1/2 tsp cocoa to 1/2 cup of yogurt, vanilla, and sweetener and stirred it up. OMG, it was wonderful. I may have used 1 tsp next time i made it, either way it was decadent! 1/2 Cup yogurt with 1 tsp cocoa was about 68 calories...65 of which were from the yogurt, and 11.5 gm protein! Enjoy guilt-free!

I'm not a chocoholic but every once in awhile I get a craving for a little bit of chocolate. I don't deprive myself because I've found that makes the craving stronger. I have a square of some sort of dark chocolate or a fun size candy bar. Then I enter it into the Tracker.

When I really want chocolate, I have chocolate. I reach for a square or two of Dove Dark Chocolate Promises, let it melt on my tongue and enjoy it. Then I enter it on my food tracker... The more you deprive yourself of something you want, the more you'll want it and it will lead to feeling deprived. A healthy balanced lifestyle has plenty of room for everything we enjoy - in moderation.

Heck yes, portion control is the key! For me, the more intense the chocolate flavor, the less I need to satisfy that craving. Here's one from an old WW class.

1 pkt sugar free hot cocoa mix
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp hot water

mix all together and stuff into paper cocoa packet, then freeze. It's a pretend Baby Ruth bar!
