Sounds like a lovely trip! Hopefully not too early in the spring unless you like snow... I live in Nova Scotia - June or May are usually good. Sometimes we get nice weather in March and April, but snow is not unusual...
One of my favourite beaches is Clam Harbour beach, should you be travelling in that direction. The ocean water is still pretty cold in June.

We are planning a trip next weekend for my birthday and will be going into a part of our state that I'm not familiar with. So, eating while on the road will be a challenge. We always bring peanuts, granola bars and plenty of water but that will only satisfy you for the moment and isn't much nutrition.
I can do all things through Christ, Whom strengthens me.

Why not set yourself to maintenance, set aside your weight loss goals for a few days, and focus on enjoying yourself, while not gaining weight? That way, you have more breathing room to enjoy yourself. :)

I, too, am a huge Anne of Green Gables fan. I can already visualize some of the settings and hope to tour the actual house. I'm most excited about Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia part of the trip, although all of it is a gift. I never thought I'd be able to go there, but my dad and mom went there once, and he wants to show us girls where they visited. As far as the food goes, I'm hoping for fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables, and supposedly they have the best grassfed beef there. But either way, I will just do my best and then walk along those amazing beaches. Since we'll be in the car so much, I sure don't want to overeat and be miserable. Too many things to see and do in a short time.

Oh I'm so jealous. I'm a die hard Anne of Green Gabler, and so is my mom (my middle name is Anne with an E because of it) so it's been my lifelong dream to visit that area. My mom and I started planning a trip last May for my 30th, but instead I met my boyfriend and moved to Colorado haha. I still plan on going sometime though, with my mom.
Also it sounds like you have a good plan... just don't overeat and make the best choices you can, and you'll be fine. Besides, a trip like this is definitely not about the food!
We just lost my mom last summer and it's been hard. My dad (86 years young) is taking me and my two sisters on a road trip in the spring - just him and "his girls". We're going to New England and then on to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. We'll be gone about 3 weeks. It will be hard to plan for meals as we won't know for sure where we'll be at mealtime (except for the lodging places that provide breakfast). We're packing a small cooler for healthy snacks, as my dad is diabetic, but will eat most meals out. With 4 adults and all that luggage we won't have room for a large cooler. I've decided not to stress about the food, but make the best choices I can at each meal, eat mindfully and not overeat. My sister and I have even discussed sharing a meal if the portions are too large. I don't eat out much, so it will be a challenge, but I'm determined to enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity without derailing my weight loss goals. Portion control will be my mantra. This is such an amazing gift from my dad that I want to enjoy it. My sister is my weight loss buddy, so we'll help each other make good choices. It's about the trip, not the food! Can't wait to see the beaches at PEI and Nova Scotia.
