There's a vending machine near my office in the building where I work, and every day I walk past and see the Cheetos and Doritos and cookies... I'm tempted every single day. It's a good thing I'm not walking past there after a fight.

I love the idea of having your own little personal vending machine snacks. Have a little array of snacks available to turn to that are healthy. I have dried fruit and nuts in my desk and I let myself have a little bit every day. It's not good to walk past a vending machine full of Cheetos and Doritos when you're having a weak moment.

I would create your own vending machine in your desk, office shelf, bag, or whatever you might find you can stash things. Each week bring a few ziplock bags or packages of something you can munch away on when you are feeling the need to visit the vending machine.

I know this isn't the place for it, but if my BF is being mean to me, I tell him to quit being a jerk, and he usually straightens up because often he doesn't even realize how he sounds. If he doesn't, then I stop the conversation. His mom is the one who told me to tell him that LOL

And the Fiber One bars sound like a good idea. Just don't eat more than one... I learned the hard way that eating multiples of fiber bars can cause A LOT of gas :)

I think i'll go buy a box of fiber one bars. What triggers the fights for the most part is just the way our conversation goes. Usually it's fine and it's a highlight of my day! But sometimes I feel he's just mean to me, most likely because he's having a bad day

Another vote for not having money to use in the machine. Also keep some other healthier snacks in your drawer. I like eating a fiber granola bar after lunch because it has chocolate in it, so it's kind of like eating a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie.

I was going to second making sure you have no singles or coins with you at work. It worked for me back when I was working. Also, is there a way to control having these arguments during your lunch break? If not, maybe just not call your boyfriend over lunch so as to avoid ending up running to the machine...

Good Luck!!

BRing alternatives, or even better, learn of a new way to deal with the stress. For starters, see if you can prevent the arguments during lunch... what's your usual trigger?

When you come back annoyed, go for a quick walk, do some jumping jacks, write in a journal... anything but that vending machine.

Stop bringing change and singles you can put in the machine. You can't use it if you have no money. :)

Whenever my boyfriend and I have an argument over our lunch breaks, I come back from lunch and there it is. A machine filled with chips, candy, soda, and nothing else. I buy something almost every time. Today, I had a mini bag of cool ranch doritos and now I'm working through a pack of skittles. emoticon What do you other sparkers do when faced with the temptation of The Evil Vending Machine?
