Given that carbohydrates are your body's preferred fuel source, and you need a little extra fuel to get your body what it needs to heal and fight off infection, I would say it's not surprising. I'm willing to bet that it's a natural reaction.
Carbs aren't bad for you, anyway. Just aim to get them from complex sources, like whole grains, fruits, and veggies!
And if you want regular stuff, indulge. I set myself to maintenance when I"m sick anyway for the extra calories, and worry about losing weight when I DON'T have the plague!
