Well, you need fat in your diet. You don't need sugar. Fat's also going to sustain you longer than sugar.
I usually decide based on what the rest of my plan for the day is. If I've already got a lot of fat planned for the day but haven't eaten much sugar. I'll take the sugar if it's something I really want to have. If I'm low on fat for the day, then most definitely, I'll choose some higher fat foods but try to make sure they're monounsaturates or polyunsaturates.
