Love golden ground flax seed heres one of my fav recipes
MIM (muffin in a minute)
1tsp melted butter
add 1/4 c ground golden flaxmeal
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
10 drops of liquid stevia
1 egg

mix and microwave for 1min 45sec.. add almond butter so good and so filling (low carb)

Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give myself reasons why I can.

I use a little ground flax meal in my shakes and I use Chia seeds in my yogurt, oatmeal and peanut butter.
Both of these I use for the FIBER content, and omega's.
Do they help in LOSING WEIGHT - NO.
But if you find that you are constipated all the time - YES they help.

You need to grind the seeds before consumption so your body can absorb the nutrients better. You can either grind them yourself in a coffe bean grinder or buy it pre-ground. If you go the pre-ground route, then I highly suggest buying the indivual serving size packets. Flax seeds or flax meal (ground) goes rancid very quickly. You will want to store it in your freezer.

foods that I consider superfoods-- like DRAGONCHILDE said, they will not HELP you lose weight just because you are consuming them, they will just add nutrients into whatever diet plan you are using
Chia seeds, flax seeds, acai berry powder, maca powder, complex c, spirulina, chorella, kelp are the ones I mostly use. There are others that are considered superfoods as well.

Flaxseed may help curb hunger and is a source of protein and fiber...they also have B vitamins, manganese, magnesium. Thet stabilize the body's sugar levels, and flax expands five times when consumed. I put them on Oatmeal, salads, yogurt, cereal and even steamed veggies mixed with sesame seeds.

The American Heart Association recommends supplementation of flax seeds...they say omega 3's and 6's (fatty acids) speed metabolism, and flax seed is the richest source of these EFAs. They also seem to lower blood pressure, are anti inflammatory and may even reduce cholesterol....go to the American Heart Assoc. website for more info on flaxseeds.

Good for your heart just like sesame seeds and sunflower seeds......

No food will help you lose weight, not directly. Food doesn't cause you to lose weight. They pack a lot of nutrition, but losing weight is about eating less than you burn, not eating "super foods" or avoiding "fattening" foods.

Here's Sparkpeople's article on Flaxseed:

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_art
icles.asp?id=451

"Super foods" are just foods that pack a healthy nutritional punch. They won't do anything other foods don't. You can eat too much of them, just like any food.
