I also bought an inexpensive coffee grinder. i grind many of my spices and make spice mixes. I totally agree that you only grind what you need.

I wouldn't grind it until you are ready to use it that way, either. It tends to lose some of it's benefits if not used relatively quickly. Also, IF you are on any medications, it might pay to check with your Dr or Pharmacist to see if Flaxseed is compatible with them.

If you go to Page 4 of that link you will find a really yummy sounding recipe :-)

To my understanding, the issue with whole flax seed is not that it is toxic; it is hard for your body to digest and if it's whole, it may pass completley through your digestive system as is, and you won't get any of the health benefits.

One thing to note is that flax seed is fiber, and you may want to add it to your diet gradually so you don't throw your digestive system out of whack.

I bought an inexpensive coffee grinder to grind the flax seed up-- idk if a mini food processor would do the trick, but there's no harm trying it out.

I've never heard of flax being toxic so I say go for it! Mini blender might work. You could also try a mortar and pestle if you have one.

I bought some flax seed the other day, thinking I could incorporate it into meals for healthy fats (I have some issues with certain fats and am wanting to try these out to see if they don't upset me), but I purchased WHOLE flax instead of the ground stuff. All the recipes I know of call for ground flax and also say to limit how much of it you eat raw because of some chemical that can be toxic.

I have heard people say to grind them with a coffee grinder, but I don't drink coffee. I do have a very mini food processor. Will that work?

Also, is it OK to have a tbsp raw with yogurt or something?

Thanks in advanced!
