I had the best of intentions.
I looked up the menu online before we went, and I picked out a good choice. Then, the group went to a different place than the original plan.
I picked out something that seemed healthy - soup and salad. It was tomato soup, not cream-based. And a half salad with shrimp and spinach. It seemed so innocent!!!
Well, I just looked it up on their website, and my little soup and salad had an ENORMOUS amount of calories. I'm so disappointed.
I have to make the most of this now...
1. We didn't drive, we walked. That's a 15 minute exercise bonus.
2. I still have dinner to look forward to. I'll end up above my range, but with a little damage control, I won't be too far off of my goals.
3. I'm not going to fall for my old way of thinking: I have NOT "blown it", and I will not finish off the day with overeating and laying on the couch. Those calories are done and gone. Every next calorie is up to me.
4. I'm going to become more familiar with the menus for these chain resturants. There's no reason to be surprised again.
I sometimes feel frustrated that the progress with this plan is very slow - I only lose 2 or 3 lbs a month. But I've lost a whole size (14 down to 12), and my thinking is changing. I'm so glad I didn't try to take any shortcuts.
