After not working so hard for the last couple of months (not planning food, not consistently exercising), I've been back on track again for a week and lost 1 1/2 lbs already. I like SP cuz I know I'll come back to it. It's a great place to track exercise and food. I also bout a fitbit which tracks my steps and exercise each day. I like to 'beat' it or at least get beyond a certain number of steps which at least keeps me moving more. It syncs with SP. I like watching my progress and I am encouraged by the fact that when I plan healthy food, I lose weight and eat well--both.

I've gotten rid of 10 pounds in a week! Very unusual for me - the last time I tried to lose weight was last January and I lost 0.4 pounds in a week ( on WW).

The difference is I'm moving more daily, exercising and keeping my calories between 1200 and 1400. The biggest change is in my attitude. Reading about other people's successes is also helping.

I'm 58 and have some health issues but this time, I'm making changes slowly and forgiving myself. I also let go of the past failures. I think that has been where I've made the greatest progress. I know the weight will disappear as long as I am my own best friend instead of my own worst enemy. emoticon

Don't believe everything you think.

I've lost 30 pounds so far, but I seem to be "stuck" for several weeks now. I need to rededicate myself to choosing healthier food and vary up my workouts.

So far I have released 60 lbs, I am now fit and strong, exercise two hours most days, and kicking up to another level of exercise. All this while carefully avoiding injury and managing to keep exercising through my setbacks.
I am confident I know how to release the rest of the extra fat I am packing and how not to gain any extra fat once that is gone.
I don,t just know what is needed in my head, I am now a person who doesn't let obstacles get in the way of my health and enjoyment of life.
There is still work to do and I am committed to do what it takes, because I want to do it for myself, and though of course there will be blips along the way, nothing will derail me.
This was not the Fifi who set off on her Sparkjourney.
So, amazing progress thanks to Sparkpeople.

Sparkpeople is what finally worked for me. I didn't realize that losing 10 lbs could feel so great, clothes fit better is the biggest plus! I've finally lost the 10 lbs I've wanted to lose for 15 years! Thank you to Sparkpeople! emoticon

I only started a week ago and I think I'm gaining rather than losing... I've gone over my calorie goals on several days and my muscles are hurting and storing liquid rather than releasing it. But I'm not worried yet. Rather than thinking about the stuff I shouldn't have eaten, I'll just focus on making my next meal healthy, and the muscle pain and bloating will eventually go away on their own.

I joined SP in January 2012 and I stayed with it for about a week emoticon However I knew I had discovered a jewel and was mentally preparing for several months. In June last year I started tracking on daily basis. It was going very well until the end of September when I had a major event in my life - moving between continents. Here in US I needed time to adjust to the food, cuisine and find the right foods. I gained about 10lbs back in just 2 months. But even in that period I KNEW in my heart that I'm not leaving the SP. I said to myself: I'm gonna stick to this. It's the ONLY thing that has EVER worked for me. In December I started regular tracking again. In reply to one of the users: there's no magic formula. Indeed, it's all about baby steps, taking one day at a time, falling & getting up again. The only thing you don't do - you don't give up.
In 10 months (including the 2 months when I gained and had to lose that again!) I have lost 41.8 lbs altogether. To me it seems like it was and is painfully slow, but when I see how far I have come I never think of giving up!

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

I lost a total of 110 pounds when I was active and checked in on Spark on a regular basis, logging, tracking, blogging, interacting.. I surpassed my goal and hit 130 pounds, was wearing a size 0 and 00, had a six pack for the first time in my life at 40, wore a string bikini [my tiny daughter's] for the first time ever...then my dad died and I completely lost focus and gained back 20 pounds. I will be 43 this fall and I'd like to be back at 130-ish...for me, nobody else.

If you are in a northern climate with the snow outside (like I am) your body wants to build fat (for insulation) and you often can't run or go outside and exercise. So its a double whammy. Just hang in there. Spring is on the way TooBig.

I signed up for SparkCoach because I need help sticking with counting calories long enough to reach any kind of goal. My community task today is to answer these questions:
1. What have you learned since tracking your food?
2. What challenges have you run into?

I have learned that I eat a lot of fat calories. These fat calories come in the form of nuts, salad dressing, mainly.

The other thing I learned is - I need to eat more protein. So some days I make a protein shake.

My biggest challenge is not eating the cereal my daughter bought for my grandson and not buying chocolate. I eat out of habit, so soothe my emotions, not necessarily because I am hungry or need to eat. At this weight I could probably not eat for 3 months and survive. So I think need is a relative term.

I also found one day I had an appointment at 11 and did not eat anything for breakfast but coffee with milk in it. And I was so hungry by 1 pm that even though I ate a healthy lunch, I overate the rest of the day.

I am doing well. The tracker and the encouraging stories from people who have lost so much weight is awesome. I teach school. We share classrooms at the college. Apparently, a teacher was explaining nutrition. She left her notes and the website for spark people on the board. I happen to see it as I was cleaning off the board. I went to the computer and instantly fell in love with spark people. It has been so helpful!

I am baaaack. Lost 40 lbs. on SP a few years ago and kept it off for about a year. This past year and a half, I have been struggling with health issues and was unable to exercise. Signed back into SP last week and have been tracking my food and slowly starting to move again. Looking forward to long term success and maintenance this time.

I also shop at Goodwill. I bought myself a beautiful spring dress that came from Loft (Ann Taylor),for $2.50. I peeked at the Loft at the mall today, and found that the dress would have cost me $75.00!!
My progress has been a lot better. I am staying more focused on my goals and find that if I just make myself get on the fan bike,I stay on it for at least 20 minutes. Better to mindlessly watch t.v. and ride than mindlessly watch t.v. and eat!!!

This is wonderful news! Good for you! I have found great buys on clothes at the GoodWill. They are helping me get through the smaller sizes as I loose weight. The money I save I will spend on a wonderful new me wardrobe when I reach my goal. This might work for you too!

My progress has been up and down. I started back in September then gave up. Now I'm back and attempting new techniques to stay with the program. This is a good website but it isn't going to do the losing for me without me working at it and increasing my exercise commitment. So, let's see how it goes this time around!

I've lost 33 lbs in the last 6 months. Haven't been this weight in a long time. None of my clothes fit anymore. Annoying but good.

I have lost 11 pounds since the end of October when I joined SP! I have changed my mental awareness and read my body for clues when I am full and track food everyday. Three more pounds to reach my goal. I love SP!

I recently made a commitment to log in every day, to get back into my exercise groove and then start working on my compulsive overeating stress issues. I lost about 20 lbs. during my first run with SP and being accountable daily was key to that success. I'm back and I want to reestablish my good heath and positive habits. GO GO GO !!!!

The 1st time around I lost 15 lbs. Kept it off for about 3 years. Then a about 1 1/2 years ago it began to creep back on, plus some. Since January I lost a grand total of 5 lbs. It's been harder this time around. The last 2 weeks I had my period (always gain water weight) & then last week I really didn't work out so I've been on a plateau.

I have lost 40 lbs in 5 months. I have gained so much knowledge about fitness and nutrition. I have also learned so much about myself. I joined sparkpeople in January and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!

I restarted SP Jan 1 after being away for two years. I had put on most of the weight I had lost.
My progress is that I have lost 13 pounds in two months.
I feel better, have more energy, can exercise longer, and not get out
of breath after 30 min on the treadmill.
I'm down from a size 22 to an 18.
I have shortened my belt by 4 notches. emoticon
My cravings are gone, I have not had any fast food since before
Jan 1.
Smaller portions are OK for me now.
I no longer have junk food in the house and I don't miss it.
All my clothes look better on me now, and the 'smaller ones' that
I haven't worn for years in the back of my closet are one by one
starting to fit.
I'm a happy camper!!!
SP works!!!

I am giving up on the scale, because it won't budge. But I feel so much better! And my blood sugars are so good I can cut back a little on my insulin! I exercise 5 days a week for 30 minutes. I have cut my calories to 1250-1600 a day. I have bombed it a couple of times, but gone right back to it. I am making a lifestyle change that is permanent this time. Sorry, but I am not giving up chocolate!

Started again Jan 19. So far 11.5 lbs down. I do Zumba on Saturday am and if I have any energy left after work Mondays for Zumba toning. We, some of my Zumba class, gave up refined sugar until after Easter. I just tried almond milk with coconut milk, really good and no sugar.
