Don't be worried or guilty. You may gain a little water weight from all the sodium, but in a day or two, it will be gone. Just get back on track, and this will be nothing

It only gets to be a problem if we start hating ourselves for eating half a bag of Doritos, so we eat the other half. emoticon

Keep your head up! We all have our moments of weakness and cave in every now and then. I have found that as long as I stay within my calorie range I have steadily lost. Drink some extra water to flush out the extra sodium and don't beat yourself up about it. You stayed within your range. Great job!

Start fresh tomorrow! emoticon

What I found helps for me is to maintain perspective. Yes, you overate--but just one snack! Congratulations to you for staying within your calorie limit for the day! You overcame the hurdle, and are back on track. Well done!

We all cheat once in a while. I find it best not to have my trigger foods in the house. Then I'm more likely to grab something healthier when I'm stressed. Just cut down a little (notice the word little) over the next couple of days and it will even out. Good luck!

you don't have to be perfect.
think of the positive. you only had 3 servings. (i have had more doritos than that at once.)
you didn't go over your calories.
it is about learning to make healthy choices over time.
don't feel guilty. tomorrow is a new day. : )

You did it because your human not perfect. We have all been guilty of that. The keys is do not be burdened with guilt or shame. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off. Maybe do something a little extra tonight like go for a walk, do a work out video to try to combat the extra calories consumed. Tomorrow is a new day! Remember that....the slate is always wiped clean with the promise of tomorrow. Take care!

You won't gain from eating some doritos. You didn't eat the whole bag, so thats something! These things happen to all of us, and stressing doesn't help.

Don't stress about it. That could make you want to stress eat more. Start back on your plan with the next meal. It will be ok! emoticon

that's one of the plusses of calorie counting vs diets that say "don't eat _____"
as long as you're under/at your goal once you track everything and usually meet your nutrition goals a treat every now and then is good! Reward yourself and enjoy it... just don't start eating it every day or going over your range (weekly average). ^_^

You can't gain a pound (or three) from eating 2 or 3 ounces of food - which is about what those Doritos would have weighed. If the scale goes up from retained water (due to the high sodium in those chips, it's a possibility), then just weigh yourself again in a couple of days for some peace of mind. :)

Goal 1 - break 200 (46 pounds lost)**DONE**
Goal 2 - leave obesity behind (BMI 29.9, at 185#)
Goal 3 - BMI = Normal (154# or less)

Why are you afraid that you'll gain weight even if you didn't go over your calories for the day? It takes 3500 EXTRA calories to gain 1 pound of fat, and seeing as you didn't consume anywhere near 3500 EXTRA calories, you aren't going to gain weight. The sodium in the chips might cause some water retention but that's about it. If you really want, you could even a bit less (not a ton less, just maybe 50-100) for the next few days to make up for it, but really there's no reason to do that since you didn't go over.

Working on maintaining at 140!

I find it pretty easy to control myself and not eat unhealthy foods, but every now and again I have a cup of ice cream or something. This afternoon, I was a little stressed out because my college made an enormous mistake on my bill. I grabbed a bag of Doritos, which is my ultimate food weakness, and had around three servings (something like 30 chips) which comes to over 400 calories. With dinner, I didn't go over my calorie limit for the day (1,590), but I'm afraid that even if I work out tonight and tomorrow I won't be able to prevent my weight going up a pound or three tomorrow or something. Doritos were why I was so overweight as a kid. I don't want to undo all the healthy eating, exercise, and progress I've made this week emoticon
