You will lose water weight at the start, and that will slow down eventually. If you are concerned, just add to your range.
I lost a lot of weight when I started Atkins, over 5 lbs a week for the first month. I asked my doctor about losing weight too fast, and his response was.. losing weight quickly is not any more dangerous than being obese.
The biggest concern, and why they say to stop and notice if you lose more than 2 lbs, is dehydration. Especially if you cut out caloric drinks. We tend to have forgotten how good water tastes..lol, and end up drinking a lot less. This is evident on the scale, but can be dangerous. Make sure you are drinking enough, and you counted your calories burned with exercise correctly. Set your Sparkrange, and proceed. If weight loss doesn't fall to 2 lbs a week in a month, ask YOUR doctor, and see if he/she is concerned.
