I'm on the Liquid Amino Diet now. The "water" works!
(In terms of using the word "diet" I think you should take the definition of: your food intake, instead of something you're "on".)
This may be lengthy but I would like to tell you why I believe this system works aside from the 8 pound weight loss this week!! :)
About 6 years ago I had both my top and bottom jaw broken. My mouth was wired shut for about 6 weeks. During this time I could only have liquids. After removing the wires, I could still only eat soft foods. With the help of my husband/trainer, I took the opportunity to change my mind and body concerning my food intake.
~ I choose healthy liquids, juiced veggies, drank only water.
~ When I could eat again, stayed away from potatoes, white bread (really all bread), salty fattening snacks (junk food) and the like
~ I exercised daily
I lost 60 pounds. Even when I could go back to a full diet I stayed on this low GI diet (just like the one I'm on now) for about 6 months and reset my body weight. I was able to reintroduce foods slowly like diary, bread, sweets etc. I could tell what caused ME to gain weight and monitor the foods I ate to keep my new physique :)
Last year I had to move 8hrs away from my home to care for 2 elderly family members whom suddenly past away at the end of year--2 months between each other. During the time I was away, I was stressed, ate whatever I wanted, did not exercise, enjoyed late night breaks from constant care with half price appetizers and $4 drinks, and more--- you get the picture! I gained 20lbs.
When I returned home this January it was hard for me to discipline myself to eat the way I KNEW, how to eat to lose the weight. And I was addicted again to bread and sweets. So I tried Fitness Pal, SparkPeople, Weight Watchers, exercised. I would lose 3 pounds, then gain it back. I was desperate for help so I turned to "weight loss" supplements. I hate feeling jittery and none of them worked.
I started reading about the HCG diet... 500 cal a day??? Yeah right-- no way!
Then I came across the Liquid Amino Diet. I read independent testimonies (this is very important) of people who were on it and it was working. I heard about all the foods you could eat and could not eat during the phases. This was exactly how I lost the weight before. But I was still skeptical about the 1000 calories a day. I went back to my journal when I lost the 60 pounds and back then I was eating 1000 calories!!! So I thought I would give it a try....something had to be done. I was becoming depressed.
I ordered the drops, read the information on foods I could eat and I started. The first 2 days I lost 3 pounds then about .5 to 1 pound each day. I feel so good and I'm not hungry! I eat all the time--- the allowable foods in meats, veggies, fruits and grains (oh and a few desserts!) are filling. I'm on the active plan of about 1200 calories per day because I exercise. I also have a glass of lemon tonic and Apple Cider Vinegar each morning. I don't miss the bad carbs, fried foods or higher index foods. And once again I'm breaking my bad food addictions. And once again I'm losing the weight. I'm not sure why or how the drops work but they do. I do not cheat, in fact I don't want to. Sure, when I was at a local restaurant smelling the aroma of french fries, baby back ribs, fried shrimp... I wanted it--- but I wanted to see another shed in weight the next morning more! So this is just my opinion and active experience. In a nut shell, the LAD has helped me eat the way I should. It's not a "fad diet" but a lifestyle adjustment. I love it!
***You can still use SparkPeople on the LAD. In fact, it will work better! Record/plan your meals. Know your caloric intake. Exercise and read all the healthy articles. I use My Fitness Pal to log my food and activity, but I read and get exercise tips from SparkPeople.
