I am going to go a bit against the grain here. I am vegetarian (pescaterian) and simply don't have the ability to eat big amounts of food at any given time, whether it is a protein or not. I tried and tried for about a year to eat the 60+ grams of protein required of me according to sparkpeople and always came at least 10 grams short.
I also have (and am soon to return) lived abroad a lot and some of those protein rich vegetarian foods are either way expensive or unavailable e.g Greek yogurt or chickpeas in a small(er) Russian city.
Protein powder, has made a world of difference and now between one serving a day in my breakfast smoothie (not too much to digest at once) plus what is available for me to eat here in the USA as a pescaterian and getting at least 90 grams a day---and it is showing big time in my weight loss efforts.
Mind you, because I have to be wheat-gluten free (diagnosed wheat/insulin sensitivities) I had to research my powder brand and selected "Garden of life" which is classified as vegan, gluten free and chemical free. I reccomend you get a sample and see how you like it, keeping in mind I always blend it with water, a small amount of fruit and often half a single serve of Greek yogurt.
I just realised the email I used for Sparkpeople has been dead for a year! :( Did you add me and I didn't add you back? *Send me a message in my sparkmail/wall*
