It didn't and I will never do it again. the hidden sugars and additives they put in those shakes and bars is not worth it. A shake that does not have to be refrigerated at the store scares me. Must have lots of additives and perservatives to keep it "safe".

SP is way better. No quick fixes, no "magic" promises, just a well-researched, nutritionally-sound program that works! Don't think of it as a diet. It an educational program which shows you how to balance the calories, fat, protein and carbohydrates you take in with the calories you burn every day. It's a program for the rest of your life, and it works!

Ugh - waste of money! I was MISERABLE when I tried that a few years ago...hungry, headaches, crashes of energy. Thank goodness I learned that a diet wasn't the answer - it was a change in my lifestyle. I'd much rather eat some real food that has a balance of protein, fat and fiber than a little can of sweet stuff. That said, I agree with BSTEVENS - you can occasionally use something like that or another prepackaged item for a snack or quick breakfast as needed.

well, like i said, it helped me set a calorie schedule for my days (how many to eat and when) i realized when looking at their products, however, that all of their bars are sweets. that sounds counterproductive to what i'm trying to accomplish here. i was just wondering about the system in general since their products were all clearanced out at Walmart, and i had picked some up. For those of you who haven't tried it, their chocolate shakes smell like cat treats, but taste like milk left over from cocoa puffs. i also tried the snack bars, they're about two inches long and are delicious. i had to stop my husband from eating them all :] thanks for everything, guys!

Slim Fast is great to have around for a once in a while, oh crap I shut off the alarm clock and the cat threw up on the floor kind of mornings when you need a grab and go.

The problem is, stuff like slim fast doesn't teach you about serving sizes, though. All it does it teach you how to drink a can or eat a prewrapped bar. It's not a bad thing, and I have nothing against it, but it teaches you nothing long term. So you do it for a few weeks, and you stop. What have you learned about proper portions and serving sizes? Balance nutrition? How to control your cravings for unhealthy foods?

If you are looking for a quick drink, perhaps making your own smoothie. You can freeze several portions and use them as needed.

Yes you are right that slimfast is not a great long term solution but it can have its place like anything else. If you have no clue about serving sizes and you are on the go a slim fast bar would be much better than say a donuts. It is a process and the goal is to have better eating habits. But it is a one step at a time thing. So if a person finds help in slimfast at first there are worse things. Even if it is not for me I tend not to judge because we are all different. What works for one may not work for another.

That's not true. From reading about the program alone, I learned that it's based on 1200 calories per day, which is what I'm eating now. So it's just me trying to figure out how to make it work out the best possible way. But, thanks.

Slimfast is "DIET" and you really need to learn to go the healthy route with healthy foods and exercise instead. This has to sustain you the rest of your life, but relying on shakes, are you actually LEARNING how to choose your food in a healthy, portion-controlled way? The answer to that is a resounding "NO!" Thanks! I just tried my first shake, and I see what you mean. Very sweet. I appreciate that they're trying to seperate the carlories that you take in and simplify it, but meh. I couldn't finish it. I think I'll also just hang onto them until a craving strikes, I haven't tried the bars yet, but for 100 calories, you can't go wrong.
