I agree. Don't waste your money. My doctor gave me phentermine a few years ago, and I wouldn't recommend it. I lost weight using it, but didn't know about the lovely side effect of 'phen rage' (mood swings on the stuff). Ick.

Make sure you're eating plenty of protein and good fats in addition to fiber, veggies, and fruit. I find if I don't have a little fat and protein with every meal and snack, I get very hungry very soon.

I drink water when I feel hungry and it helps out. Or I just do a fruit snack. Lately, I have been bringing and oranges and string cheese with me to work. I don't eat all of that, but it is nice to have some fruit when it I get hungry.

I do not think there is a need to get an appetite supressant especially if you eat right and make sure you get enough protein and fiber. Talk to your doctor about your side affects of the medication and see if she has any suggestions other than spending money on an appetitie supressant.

Plenty of fiber helps, and make sure you drink water with it. I find I'm less hungry if I eat some of each macronutrient at each meal -- some carbohydrates, some protein, and some fat. Like a big lettuce salad with low-fat dressing and some chicken or fish, and a piece of fruit. For breakfast, make sure you get some protein -- a bowl of cereal alone won't do it. Save calories so you can have at least a small snack in the middle of the morning and the afternoon.

It's hard, I know. All last week I had a raging appetite and food was all I could think of. And I'm not even taking any appetite-stimulating drugs.

Eat real food. I also drink a cup of hot green tea when I'm getting hungry and find I can put off eating for another hour or so, amazingly.

Caffeine works great for me. Black coffee in particular. Sugar free gum also works well. These work great for me, your mileage may vary.

I am with one of the previous posters about fiber and protein. I eat mainly veggies and have found over the last week or so, the more clean the food the less I actually need. I can now get from breakfast to lunch without any kind of snack. Actually the last two days I didn't even have a snack and could barely finish the food on my plate. 1/3 or 1/2 of the recipe i made is enough.
Just start eating clean and you will be surprised how fast you fill up.

Your SparkPage says you are doing a "Body by Vi" challenge that includes two shakes and one meal a day. I have to say, I would be very hungry doing that also. Eating food that you have to chew will fill you up much faster and keep you feeling satisfied longer. I honestly don't think an appetite suppressant is necessary but whole nutritious foods really are.

are you talking 'appetite' as in mouth hunger, or growling belly? for the first, sugar-free gum can be useful. for the second, as others have suggested, higher fiber foods like whole fruits/veg can give your stomach something to work on.

I find eating any kind of bean and drinking lots of water in combination seems to be a good appetite suppressant.

I have never heard of an appetite suppressant that is healthy and/or works. The only thing that WILL "suppress" your appetite is to fill up with protein- and fiber-filled foods. If you eat healthy foods (especially fresh vegetables), it will matter less how much you eat than were you to eat the same amount of chips, cookies, etc.

There is no such thing as an Over The Counter appetite supressant---that works.

If your doctor thinks this would not interfer with your medication and an appetite supressant is appropriate for your situation---then your doctor should prescribe one.

I have talked to my doctor about getting on an appetite supressant and if it would affect my medication. She told me there isn't any reason for her to think that it would interfere.

If you are on medication for anything, you MUST talk to your doctor before putting any appetite suppressant in your mouth, k? Not only are they full of bad stuff, when combined with meds, they can be very dangerous

eat food. not too much. mostly plants.

Hello, All!

Wondering if anyone knows of a good appetite supressant. I'm having a terrible time with my appetite, because I'm on medication that increases appetite. I am trying so hard to stick to my allowed calories per day, (and I have) but I am hungry all of the time. I don't see myself sticking to this for too much longer if I don't find something good to curb my appetite!
