Oatmeal, 10 Blueberries, and 4 chopped walnuts...high protein, fiber, and B vitamins, also Blueberries are low GI and have Manganese which helps convert the proteins, carbohydrates and fats in food into to energy. High in fiber it helps cholesterol too!
Sometimes I have oatmeal and put 2 microwave eggs ontop...stir in the oatmeal I find it good!
Have also tried a tbsp. of Peanut butter swirled in....not bad

To my steel cut oats I typically add a dollop of non-fat vanilla yogurt, some wheatgerm, little protein powder, either coconut or non-fat milk and a tbsp of maple syrup or jam to sweeten it up.

I like adding canned pumpkin and pumpkin spice, with soy milk and a packet of splenda. Gemmmana have you tried soy or almond milk? The coconut milk is a lot of fat.

Great ideas! I use rolled oats and put 1/2 c. of frozen/fresh fruit (whatever i feel like) and microwave with water (I make it at work so microwave is the only option); OR make it plain and add 1 T maple syrup (pure) and cinnamon; OR put in a cut up banana sometimes adding a teaspoon of honey. Any way, it is yum! I make my steel cut oats with milk on the weekends, I don't think the added fat is bad I think it makes it more filling and nutritious.

Taste of Home Healthy Cooking has a good baked oatmeal with blueberries and peaches. I make it on Sunday and I only have to reheat it in the morning. I don't like milk, so I top with 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt. Keeps me filled up thru the morning

I make a big pot of steel cut oats every week and keep it in the fridge. Every morning, I warm some up in the microwave and then add raisins and brown sugar. Or half a banana, a little brown sugar and chopped walnuts. So good! Approx 250 calories..

I use nonfat milk instead of water to make my oatmeal creamier and also add protein and calcium. I always burn it if I try to make it on the stovetop, so I use a large bowl and microwave. After it's done, I stir in a little Splenda (or sometimes none at all) and a TBSP of peanut butter.

Here's my favorite: Pumpkin Oatmeal 1 1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal, uncooked 1 cup canned pumpkin 2 1/2 c. milk (I use 2%, but you can use soy or nonfat or whatever) 1 1/2 oz. raisins 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice 1 tbsp Splenda dash of salt 3 Tbsp. chopped walnuts Combine all the ingredients except walnuts and cook over low heat until it thickens. Serve with walnuts on top. Makes 3 servings, 260 calories per serving. Yum!
