Thank you for your responses and I agree Unident. I guess I will have to choose my words carefully when asking them how they grow their produce. Thanks again!

Also, "organic" is a buzzword, and how are they going to prove it? If they say it's organic, and that's important to you, ask them about their growing practices. They'll probably know enough to say 'we don't spray' but if they're just using 'organic' as a buzz word they won't be able to tell you how they ARE managing pests themselves, then.

you have to ask. some people grow their own in an organic manner but do not get certified because it is costly. other people go to big produce places and buy the same stuff that you could buy in the grocery store and sell it at markets.

-google first. ask questions later.

I don't know if any of you have a flea market around but I live by one called Wagon Wheel. There are a bunch of Ethnic people out there selling all kinds of produce. I mean everything from carrots, spinach, asparagus to lychee and dragon fruit. Do you think it home grown and organic or is it probably just left overs they buy from somewhere?
