Just be careful; when my husband was on a juicing kick I actually gained 8 lbs.!, mostly from all the great tasting apple-carrot juice he was making.

Personally, I'd rather just eat my fruits and veggies whole--and it's better for you too. If you do juice, try to get a juicer that incorporates the pulp.

the fruit and veggie in a "whole state" is nutritionally superior to just the juice.

So get a juicer that includes the pulp (thicker juice) so you get the beneficial fiber and all the nutrients; or if you get a juicer that does not include the pulp---find other uses for the pulp (soup, casserole, quick bread, muffin, smoothie, etc).

And adults are encouraged to consume no more than 1 cups juice daily--especially when trying to lose weight.

Although I do like smoothies I just can't get into them all the time.

Smoothies are nutritionally superior to juice, if you are the type who likes to drink their calories. All you need is a decent blender for that. You can find lots of smoothie recipes on Sparkrecipes.com.

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

Hi everyone,

I have been feeling drained and worn out lately. I wonder sometimes how much good and bad we put in our mouths. I thought about doing a detox diet, but some of those out on the web seem a bit scary. I have always been interested in juicing. I love vegetables and fruits, so why not drink them to help me feel better. This brings me to my first question. What are the different types of juicers out there? Which ones are affordable and get the job done? I don't want to spend tons of money on a juicer that works half the time or is very messy. I think anything up to $150 would be good, but I'm not sure which brands work the best. Another question is what types of food should you not put in your juicer? Can they handle any fruits or veggies? I think that replacing some of these processed foods with fruits and veggies will make me feel tons better. Any tips or suggestions on juicers or juicing in general would help. Thanks in advance.

Peace,

Elizabeth
