I'm gonna jump in and thank y'all for the info, this post showed up just in time for me. I'm having my wisdom teeth removed in approximately 12 hours - come hell or high water....or just a really big a$$ snowstorm!

The Atkins shakes are good and have all your required nutrients including protein. I drink the strawberry because the chocolate hurts my stomach.

I had jaw surgery when I was younger and it can get to a certain point where you will try anything! So one day the family was having stir fry. I blended the chicken/veggies in the blender and separately blended the rice. it made a nice paste and I just ate them together. It sounds gross, but it was sooo good after two weeks of liquid. So if you get desperate, that's an option.

I ate mostly scrambled eggs and mashed butternut squash after my surgery.

A few days after, we had a work dinner out and I got some sort of baked flaky white fish that was pretty easy to chew (or well...mash to the roof of my mouth with my tongue).

Good luck!

I feel for you Girl, that's gotta be hard. Personally, I would try my best to stick to....
1 steam (unless otherwise noted), mash/puree, mix with almond milk any of the following.....: cauliflower, carrots, green beans, raw spinach (see green smoothies), sweet potato, zucchini, raw cucumber (peel first), tomato
2 greek yogurt
3 chicken/beef/fish broth
4 powdered eggs or powdered egg whites (mix in with foods and smoothies for protein)
5 any 100% pure veggie/fruit juice
6 EVOO, fishoils, butter, and coconut oil for extra fat when needed

This morning I had some coffee which I let cool (I am not allowed to have anything too hot.) and then I made the most wonderful chocolate peanut butter smoothie from non-fat milk, chocolate protein powder and natural peanut butter. I used lots and lots of ice to get it nice and thick and cold. It is wonderful. Thanks to you all for the ideas.

I am definitely trying the vegan refried beans and canned pumpkin today or tomorrow? Did you add anything to the pumpkin?

Protein powder. I mix it with water, you can mix it with milk or yogurt. It is an incredible source of protein -- mine has 22g of protein in every 25g of powder.

After my wisdom teeth were removed, I ate mashed potatoes, peanut butter, greek yogurt, canned pumpkin, and whipped cottage cheese. I did lose weight just because my appetite was completely ruined and I hated eating. But I did enjoy drinking all different coffees, milkshakes, smoothies, soy/almond milk, and coconut water.

if you just buy vegetarian refried beans they don't have any fat. and then all you would have to do is open the can.

-google first. ask questions later.

Oh you are all coming up with some great ideas. I can't use a straw of have anything too acidic. I think I am going to steam up some broccoli tomorrow and puree it. I had thought of baby food, for protein, but I could have peanut butter and banana smoothie. I was also thinking of making my own refried beans without all the fat. What do you think? Right now though, I am as weak as a kitten...

steam some veggies, puree them up, then mix into the mashed potatoes. that way you're getting the good bits of the veggies, you don't have to really chew them, and it's not quite as offputting as eating baby food.
alternately look for some vegetable soup type recipes that you can overcook a little so that everything sort of falls apart in your mouth instead of having to chew it.

-google first. ask questions later.

definitely with the smoothies. Just be careful if you can't suck from a straw.
Chia porridge is yummy.. soak some chia seeds over night. drain and rinse the next morning. put into a blender with some berries, banana, and a touch of cinnamon.

:)

Oatmeal! You can mix in all kinds of seasonings, I like brown sugar myself.

Also what about something like polenta? That can be made pretty soft.

Also some soups would work, like tomato soup.

Smoothies, greek yogurt, mashed butternut squash or mashed sweet potatoes, you can make "ice cream" by blending a frozen banana, 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder. Much healthier than ice cream, and the consistency is just like softserve!

I just had some oral surgery. I am not allowed to chew for about a week. I need some nutritious foods that are extremely soft and yummy. I allowed myself ice cream and mashed potatoes today, but I know that I can't live off of that for an entire week. What suggestions do you have that are nutritious?
