My husband would wake up in the night with calf cramps. His Dr told him to add more potassium and drink milk - so I would suggest adding bananas, yogurt, and milk to your food plan and see if you get any relief there.
Also - if it's happening while you are working out, are you stretching properly? Are you pushing too hard too fast? Are you giving yourself downtime between workouts? Ice/heat may also help.
