You shouldn't have too much difficulty if you just place the roast in the crock pot. (Some people like to brown the top & bottom first, to sear the juices in.)
Cut up some potatoes, carrots, onion & maybe celery. Mix up a 1 - 2 cups of beef broth & red wine (to your preference). Pour over the top of veggies & roast. Sprinkle on some salt & pepper, to taste; and maybe a bit of garlic.
The meat will add its own juices to the blend. The crock pot will do the rest. -- The meat may cook faster than the veggies, so you may want to place on low for 6-8 hrs.
