Don't just use a scale to track your progress! Don't forget inches lost, muscle gained and most importantly how you feel inside (healthy and energetic)!!! Maybe you can track that you did 10 more push ups this week then last week or another strength exercise that's hard for you! Take pictures of parts of your body so you can see your progress! When we look at ourselves every single day, it's hard to notice subtle changes but if you can see a picture from month to month, that would be a huge motivation! Good luck!!!

Obie, I loved your tracking method. I might pull out one of these millions of 2011 calendars I have and do that, only have a month worth of tracking info and of course I know what I was in Feb 2011 before I met DH haha. Would be great to do not only with the loss, but when pregnant and then losing yet again!

OP, stay focused, you really don't have that much to lose and the end is the hardest battle. Keep your chin up and stay focused and you will get there!

Whatever you do, don't let the frustration make you give up. Whether slow or fast, as long as the weight's coming off, you're doing it right. If it's your last 15 pounds, they are notoriously slow to go, so have patience. A year's time will pass whether you eat healthy and work out or not. What you want to be at the end of that year is up to you.

If you're tired of starting over, stop quitting!

Fifteen lbs doesn't sound like much, but it is over 10% of your weight.

I am one of those heavier guys that loses really fast, but we also gain very fast too. Through the ups and downs of the last 3.5 years, I have lost 125 lbs, but that is over 182 weeks, or .68 lbs a week. Seeing as how I started out at 361, this doesn't seem to be very quick, but I can lose 20 lbs in a month. The problem is consistency, not speed. Rapid weight loss just leads to hunger.

Even at a lb a month, you will be at goal weight a year from today, so just relax, and be consistent. You will get there.

My weight loss is slow as well; only 3.5 pounds since the last week of August. I won't complain though because weight loss is just that, a loss. I am overweight and I don't feel as though depriving myself is the answer. Yes, I want to be healthy, but I also want to enjoy my life & food :) Keep doing what you are doing. Slow and steady win the race :)

I'm losing slowly too - about a pound a week. Some weeks I stall out and stay the same. I think it's my age. My metabolism just isn't what it was 20 years ago. I sure have learned a bunch using this website. I almost think that's as important as the weight loss.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.

my weight loss is super slow too.

one thing that has helped me actually happened by accident. I keep a calendar in the vanity to write down my weigh ins. It's a 2010 calendar! In January of 2011, I didn't have an extra calendar, so I just used the same one again and wrote in a different color ink. I liked seeing the change from the previous year, so I used the same calendar again. When I get discouraged, it's great to see what I weighed 2 years ago. BIG difference!

I am down almost 7 pounds in 6 months. I also do not have much to lose and am trying to focus more on body composition than actual weight. Pounds and inches are very slow to come off, but I am beginning to see a difference. My initial goal date is now and I had to abandon it a few months ago. However, I am right on track for the loss pattern I have had since I started. I get down roughly a pound every 2 weeks after 3.5 months of no change at all. I hit a low then bounce back up a bit, but it is lower than the bounce up from the week before so overall it is slowly going down.

I agree with all the excellent advice here. When you don't have much to lose, you're not going to see the results that heavier people get. Think of the Greatest Loser. People on that show lose your goal in a few weeks, but they have much much further to go.

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running.

Slow for me too. Average about one lb per month. But 2 years ago I weighed 184...now 164 and still going down.

well unless you are well under 5' tall, the most you should be expecting to lose a week is half a pound. you simply don't have the excess fat that you need to pull larger numbers. i mean, the best thing that you can do to lose 3lbs per week is to be 400lbs.

-google first. ask questions later.

Slow is fine, especially since you don't have much to lose. This isn't a race, there are no medals for losing weight quickly. Eat a balanced diet, do cardio and strength training (ST is not optional!) and you will see results eventually.

The first week's loss was probably mostly water weight. It certainly wasn't at a rate that you could sustain. You might be able to sustain half a pound a week, but honestly, I'd aim for even slower than that.

Slow is great - you get there! Nothing in your way but time! :)

Cos you don't weigh anything!!

You're under 60kg. That is TINY.

Unfortunately for you, bodies with less weight to lose lose it very slowly.

What are you calling "slow"? I would imagine you would lose a pound a month, safely on average. Any faster is not realistic at your weight.
