Again - watermelon instead of cookies.

Though I did find an organic dark chocolate bar on sale, so I bought that - but only ate a little bit.

May need to seriously up my protein, as I'm doing a lot of moving around and bending and shoving for work! The quinoa and tomato soup isn't cutting it! (I'm not vegetarian, so I'm thinking of grilling up some chicken breasts tonight for work tomorow.)

I'll admit, I'm mildly addicted to Starbucks. But yesterday, while I did get my latte (indulged in the pumpkin spice w/ skim because I haven't had it yet this season) I purchased the Via instant brew pumpkin spice packets for future fixes (60 calories when made with water and no additional sugar) saving money and calories!

Sunday evening my daughter told me that her husband commented that I look like I lost weight. Now THAT was something! When I started, I wondered when people would start noticing. The answer is 12 pounds.

My small victory today is....being able to cross my legs without even trying. I was talking to my step-dad about a dress in a magazine, I thought I was too tall for it, he said I wasn't as long as I could sit properly in it (i.e. cross my legs). He looks at me and says "see you're crossing your legs now". I didn't even notice till he said something. They all laughed at me and then we all celebrated it for some reason. I know why I was happy...but I can't say why they were so happy. emoticon

And I said NO to a hamburger today, eventhough I really wanted one. Decided to stick with my planned meal for dinner.

Small victories can be so encouraging!

After working with a personal trainer for a month, I had my first official weigh in. I lost 9 lbs. My chest, waist and hips shrunk two inches! My clothes fit better this month! Next month I'm hoping my thighs and that sagging fat under my arms shrink!

Last night, I really wanted a DQ Blizzard. So I skipped eating some other stuff and added some exercise so that I could stay within my goals. :-) Yea!

Now I realize that skipping "real" food for a treat should not be a regular thing but at this point I am just happy to stay within my calorie goals for any given day. Also, it has been about a week since I indulged in something sweet like that. So I'm increasing the length of time between my sweet treats--another victory!

I haven't been letting the scale bother me. I'm down another pound after what felt like a "long plateau" (probably ~ 2 weeks at the same weight, haha), and when I do the math for how much I've lost divided by how many weeks I've been doing SparkPeople, I've lost at an average rate of 1.9 pounds per week!! Not bad at all!!

My victory is I made it through all 45 minutes of the spinning class. I wasn't able to do even a fraction of the jumps or other "stuff" you do in the class but I lasted the entire 45 mintues. This week's goal is to try to ride "out of the saddle" for half the class.

Persistance is more important than perfection.

I made the decision to not track yesterday so I could enjoy a meal out and not know the damage. I savored my options and anticipated the meal but in the end, I just could not be out of control. It just wasn't worth it. I did have a high calorie meal but it was no where near what I had thought I would do. I ended up looking it up this morning and in the end, I just barely went over my numbers for the day. I feel great this morning and I know I can splurge again and not regret it .

Down 2 pounds (of my 20 lb goal) since Monday. That's 10% !!! The REAL victory is that I would usually have crash dieted to lost a quick 5-8 in the same time it took me to lose two. But I am doing it the right way and I'm so proud that I've made it this far and seen real results.

I've been allowing myself sandwiches, ice cream, peanut butter and jelly... all the foods I love and NOT the diet versions. I've just been counting EVERYTHING and staying under my BMR, then getting some extra activity so I know that I have a calorie deficit every single day. Even if it is just a little bit.

You photo of your dog got me to thinking....

I have a 12 year old miniature schnauzer that has gotten a DAILY walk and has always been fed low fat chicken and rice California Natural dog food(no wheat which irritates many dogs' skin) with only baby carrots for teats. Our vet says he has the muscle tone and health of a dog half his age and will live to be 20.

I've done a perfect job with him! Now time to do it for myself! Down 11 pounds & emoticon walking daily!

I stayed away from my bathroom scale all week. My trainer says it messes with your mind and I should only weigh myself once a week. She's right, of course! Also, I took a half hour walk at lunch today around the surrounding neighborhood at work and I actually enjoyed it!

I have never been able to do buckle in the back seat of my Mother in Law's PT Cruiser. Not without contorting my body and feeling totally embarrassed that my grandmother always had to sit back there so I could buckle in the front. Finally the day has come and I was able to buckle in the backseat of my Mother-in-Law's PT Cruiser for the first time!!! Yay me emoticon
