Yeah. Depending on the fiber content and how well one chews it, it can be even less. I have seen articles where they show the digestion as a function of how well it is chewed.

Almonds are great, but recently I am favoring walnuts, because of its sizeable omega-3 content, and also because I can never manage to eat too much of walnuts, whereas I could easily eat a pound of almonds with great pleasure.

It really is true, nuts in general seem to be processed differently. They do their own thing. And we still really have no idea why.

Of course you still want to apply good sense and portion control when it comes to nuts, so don't go crazy on nuts.

(See what I did there at the end? I am super hilarious, right?)

This is great! I eat almonds almost every day. I never met an almond I didn't like. Thanks Blibbity for sharing this info.

I love almonds, so this is great news! I usually have .5oz on my salad ot work or .5oz as part of a snack. hopefully I will still be mindful of the calories- it is very easy to over-ear almonds/ nuts in general! Thanks for sharing!

A new study has found that the human body is actually only able to metabolize 129 of the approximately 160 calories in a 1-oz serving of almonds.

Do you include almonds in your diet? If not, would you reconsider them after the results in this study?
