You need to find out the fat amount that you can have following your surgery. Talk to your doctor or dietitian for the specific amount. Take this amount and divide it into 3 meals and 1-2 snacks. Now you know how much to include with each meal and you will be able to tell if a recipe works. Most folks do well if they avoid high fat meats, fried foods, foods in cream sauces, cheese sauces, gravies, pastries/doughnuts/biscuits, etc. The rest of the foods work: lean meats, low fat dairy, fruits, veggies, whole grains.

You will then probably find that you can transition back to your Sparkpeople ranges for calories, fat, carbs and protein as you heal.

Most folks can tolerate low fat dairy. Skim and 1% milk, lowfat cheese, lowfat yogurt.

hope this helps

Ask the doctor why you're not supposed to have dairy. Is it the calcium, the fat, or what? Eliminating dairy isn't normally part of the recovery from gallbladder removal, so there must be some specific reason. If you don't know exactly why the doc wants you to cut out dairy, you could end up substituting something worse.

Ahhh!! Just had my gullbladder removed and have discovered I cannot do dairy of any kind. I have changed to Almond Milk but I still feel stuck with what to eat. I want to keep up the low fat diet and love fruits and veggies. However I have a family of picky eaters that are not so excited about my diet change. Lol.

I'm looking for recipies that follow my diet restrictions but are good enough that my family will eat them. I really cannot afford to make different meals for me and my family. Any iformation would be so very helpful! Thank You!
