I buy a few loaves at a time and freeze the extra loaf so that when we run out I just pull out another one rather then having to run to the store.

I freeze all my bread, bagels, tortillas, ect. I don't do anything special to it, I just chuck it in my deep freeze and pull one out and let it sit on the counter to defrost. My son LOVES toast so we go though alot, and I don't eat bagels or english muffins everyday so this way they don't go bad and I just take one out when I want one and toss it in the toaster oven.

I often freeze bread.

Sometimes in slices but most oft the time in small packs.

defrost it over night, perhaps 10 minutes in the oven - and fresh :)

I freeze bread and rolls all the time, since i live alone. Easier that way. I find that English Muffins don't freeze well (they tend to shrink). Never tried tortillas.

I make all our bread, and since we go through so much and I am a busy girl (or this time the year just lazy), I make 12 loaves of bread at a time, let it sit in the frig overnight and slice it and freeze. We are trying to train the kids to take bread out before it is gone, but if it is frozen and I am making sandwiches right now we just microwave it, it is about 30 seconds for 10 slices.

Always freeze my bread
I freeze my tortillas also but I place wax paper between them so they don't stick.

I am so glad you asked this question. I loved reading everyone's replies. I have always wanted to freeze bead products but haven't and now I will for sure. Thanks!

I freeze whole wheat english muffins and whole wheat pita bread. To defrost, I put the pita bread in the fridge (it should be stored in the fridge, says on the package, idk why tho!), but I put the english muffins on the counter, unless I want it immediately, I'll defrost 1 in the microwave.

I freeze bread and then take out the slices I need. They defrost quickly at room temperature.

We freeze bread all the time, because we don't eat a lot and so we'll buy a loaf and freeze the other half for later. After freezing, you can defrost either by letting it sit out, or by toasting it. Toasting once will defrost it, twice will toast it. I'm sure that varies with different toasters though.

If you use the defrost option on the microwave instead of cook (wrapped in paper towel....it won't come out tough.

I do it all the time. I usually toast the bread so I don't have to worry about thawing it.

I freeze mine all the time.
With tortillas (flatbread), I usually try to put something between each layer, so they don't get stuck together, and I can just remove one at a time.

Then, I take one out, put it in a plastic bag (like the kind you put veggies in, sometimes), or in a paper towel, and leave it to defrost.

For bread, I often will toast it in the frozen state.

In a pinch, I'll microwave it for a few seconds; but usually like someone else said, it may make it tough - one or two seconds can make a difference

I freeze bread all the time too. I pull out what I need, when I need it. I wrap in a paper towel and defrost in microwave for 20 seconds for rolls, bagel, or english muffins. I would say 10 seconds for sliced bread. The paper towel absorbs the moisture and the bread comes out soft and warm. Just make sure you use the defrost option not cook option.

I freeze bread and buns all the time. I find it works better if I use a freezer bag instead of the bag the bread comes in. When you defrost it, I take out just the amount I need it, put it in another bag and thaw it on the counter.

Bread freezes very well. I freeze all my bread products because it is so humid here; They go moldy in a day or 2.

I freeze bread all the time. I don't like to freeze hamburger or hotdog buns though. They always seem to get freezer burnt or lots of ice in with them.

Sometimes when I go to the grocery store the bread is Buy on Get one free. So I buy two loaves and freeze one. Then I let it sit out on the counter. Microwaves make bread tough.

Since becoming empty nesters we freeze most of out bread products.

I prefer to let it thaw naturally, it does not take much time at all for a couple of slices of bread to thaw. if I forget to set it out ahead of time I thaw it in the microwave (10-15 seconds).

Living alone, I'd never finish a loaf of bread, rolls, or tortillas before they'd spoil. Wrap well & freeze. I don't like to use my microwave more than I have to, so just let items set out, usually just SITTING in the microwave so they won't dry out. Bon Appétit emoticon

Has anyone frozen bread so it won't spoil? Can you do the same with buns? Tortillas? How do you defrost when you are ready to eat..microwave or just let it sit out?

Thanks!
