HMNMM... I guess a call to the pharmacy and endocrinologist is in order to be sure. I don't take calcium or iron supplements but was told to avoid ALL calcium and iron for 4 hours. Now I will have to "ask the experts"..Thanks for the link

That could explain it- I probably need to find a diff doctor though- mine seems to be pretty iffy on sharing things with me! I too wait half an hour before having breakfast.

I came across this thread: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Thyroid-Disorders/What-no-iron-and-no-calcium-food-do-you-eat-for-breakfast/show/1213436

Maybe that will have some useful info for you as well?

Could be because I have no thyroid but I take it as soon as I get up and was told to wait 1 hour before eating anything and then no calcium for 4 hours after taking synthroid.

I was told to take the thyroxin directly after getting up, and wait at minimum 30 minutes until breakfast. And avoid calcium for 2 hours.

I eat cooked spelt flakes with soya yoghurt and fruits for breakfast

I had thyroid-ectomy due to cancer so I have no thyroid and was told by endocrinologist and pharmacist to avoid calcium within 4 hours of the meds so I try -- I will admit I am not always successful.

Hmm I'm on thyroid medication and I do eat items with calcium at breakfast- I just wait to take my vitamin until lunch! I don't have my levels checked that regularly, but I haven't had any issues (I'm also on a fairly low dose, though). I haven't had any issues! I just know not to have much iron in the morning...

Thought of another one. I normally use this for a pre-workout snack, but there's no reason it couldn't be great fuel to start your day with. I take a whole wheat tortilla and spread a serving of peanut butter on it and then roll a banana up inside. Lots of energy and it doesn't get much quicker and easier to make than that.

Some whole grain oatmeal should be fine when mixed with just water. I've got some of the ready in under 2 min stuff and use water and add a little cinnamon and raisins to it. Taste great, is easy, and keeps me full for a while. Brown sugar and jelly is a good mixer as well, but is a little high on the sugar and simple carbs.

Another breakfast I eat is hardboiled eggs, I'll have 1 whole and just eat the whites off three. According to Spark, an egg with yolk has 8% daily calcium in it, but the white's of them don't have any. Maybe you could just do the whites, or perhaps 1 yolk wouldn't be too bad. 8 ounces of skim milk has 30% for comparison. Hope this helps

I take thyroid medication upon waking and cannot have calcium or calcium foods for 4 hours after. This totally blows my breakfast of greek yogurt and I cannot eat eggs every day. Does anyone have suggestions for portable quick breakfasts that contain no calcium? I am getting desperate.
