I love trying different diets if they are not totally crazy. I end up picking and choosing elements for a healthy lifestyle for me. I feel confident tha I am now in the healthiest place I can be. I don't feel deprived or as though I am dieting. I am just making good choices meal by meal. If I want to change up something to jump off a plateau I do try a little different eating plan for a week. That is usually enough to get my body going again. Besides, diets are stressful and we now know stress causes weight gain!

Guess what? When you get to that point, everything won't magically change. You still will have to be aware at some level of what you are eating or you won't stay thin. Make solid and sensible changes that you can live with and get yourself to the weight you want then maintain those changes to maintain where you want to be.

I totally agree with everyone who says that dieting does not work. Food is our friend, not the enemy. Diets do make you feel deprived. Don't do it. Just change your lifestyle to a healthier one. It seems to be working for me.

I know how you feel. Just try to keep it up; it may take longer than you'd like but the rewards will be so worth it.

Dieting is evil and I don't do it. We can't expect things to change overnight. Goodness knows I've had to learn that lesson a few times over. Make a plan, start off with small changes and just keep pushing forward.

I gave up dieting, too.
It's a terrible burden on the mind.

Instead, I chose to get healthier, and select better menu choices.
If I choose to have something others consider an indulgence, it's a conscious choice, and it fits in my menu - not considered a "cheat".

Nothing worse than denying yourself something so much that you obsess over it, and then eat it until you practically burst.

Skip the diet mentality.
Instead, approach it that you want to get healthier.
Whether you lose enough so you look like the "skinny" girl at the next table (who may or may not be healthy) - you'll have improved, and you can feel good about that.

Instead of wishing for something to happen, why not create a plan to help you slowly work toward achieving those goals? Most people who maintain a healthy weight still have to make healthy food choices and exercise regularly. I don't consider myself to be "skinny", but I am a normal weight- and I work hard for that. I get up early in the morning before my 3 small children to exercise, and I make the choice to give my body foods that are good for it. I love a big piece of chocolate cake just as much as anyone else, and I think treats like that are fine in moderation, but that's not the choice I make on a regular basis. So don't think it's easier for that person next to you who isn't currently struggling with a weight issue. It might take them just as much dedication as it takes you to reach your goals.

Hope that helps,

Coach Jen

Then don't diet. I don't.

Diets don't work; what you should focus on is healthy living, and making healthy, sustainable lifestyle changes that result in lifelong health... not short-term weight loss fixes. Quick fixes aren't sustainable.

"Diets" don't work. All they do is teach you how to hate food.

Just make small changes that you can stick to for life. As you get used to each change, make a new one. Eventually - small changes add up to big changes!

weight loss takes time. It didn't take 5 minutes to gain that weight so it won't come off fast either.
