Loads of you keep saying about FLAVOURED cheese spread?!? We only get regular or light in my supermarket - never seen flavoured before. We get Primula which is cheese spread and that has some flavours like prawn, ham, etc. What flavoured cheese spreads do u get? Just because now I'm interested lol.

I love Laughing Cow cheese wedges, but my closest grocer only has a few flavors. I need to find a place that has some of the other yummy flavors. Pita chips are one of my go to snacks. I eat the Kangaroo brand, they have a few different flavors, 110 calories per serving. Like others here, hummus is another thing I almost always have on hand. Sometimes I eat it with pita chips, sometimes with veggies. String cheese is another favorite (important for protein, and low in calories).

I like to mix or blend fat free Greek yogurt with berries and a little honey, then freeze for an hour or so and stir. It's very healthy, but it feels like a treat, almost like ice cream. Also just bought some Popsicle molds and plan on making fruit purée Popsicles or maybe fat free pudding pops. Lite string cheese is good and helps me get in my protein, plus it takes a while to eat in small strings, so it's not gone in just a couple quick bites. More satisfying.

Aww thanks for the popcorn and cracker chips info. :-) And I really love chickpeas too so that sounds delicious. Do you eat them cold? So something to take on the go? Or are they nicer hot? Just added a bag of plain popcorn to my shopping list for the week! Really looking forward to making them tasty next week. I have a grinder that has chilli, garlic and sea salt in and that is delicious on salads/pasta/chicken and I think I'm going to try using some spray EVOO and season with that one.

I love popcorn. I use a hot air popper. A Misto sprays a light spray of extra virgin olive oil. Then any seasoning will stick. Kernel Season's has many flavors and no MSG.

One of my favorite snacks is one tablespoon of chopped walnuts or almonds with one tablespoon of Nestle Toll House Chocolate Morsels. It has monounsaturated fats and it's better than chocolate covered nuts or a candy bar. Another fave is plain greek yogurt with blueberries stirred in it. I usually buy the frozen no-sugar berries, defrost them and then add them, juice and all, into the yogurt. So I get my protein, calcium, and fruit in one snack. Of course fresh veggies and fruit is always a good snack when it's hot outside and they're available in season.

I love those mini sweet peppers (and they're so pretty with their red, yellow and orange colors), but I haven't seen any at the stores lately. I also love Laughing Cow cheese wedges (I've been eating their newest flavor, Cinnamon, on my morning Lender's Whole Wheat bagel some mornings).

Also, what are cracker chips? And almond milk sounds like a great suggestion too. Where would I get this from? Is it a health-food jobby or just regular supermarket?

Last time I checked in on this thread there were 4 posts! So thanks for all the suggestions everyone. We don't have the Trader Joe popcorn here (in UK) but that sounds delicious with herbs and spices! The only savoury popcorn we tend to get in UK is salted. How do I make the seasoning so it sticks to the popcorn? Do I have to put anything extra in or just stir it all round? (love popcorn but don't have it very often). I am definitely going to be pinching alot of these suggestions

There's a lot of great suggestions here. Almonds, yogurt, fresh fruit/veggies, rice cakes, crackers, granola bars, protein bars, string cheese.

I found these mini peppers at the grocery store this week - yellow, orange and red, and they look like hot peppers but they are really mild and sweet but with some crunch. I cut the top off (where the stem is), slice them in half and spread a little bit of laughing cow cheese. They are yummy and I was surprised that 3 of them would actually fill me up. And for LESS than 100 calories! My co-worker suggested that I put them in the broiler for a minute to melt the cheese bit. I also love Trader Joe's Popcorn with Herbs and Spices. LOVE IT! Usually popcorn doesn't satisfy me, but this isn't greasy and I love that savory taste. It's not at all overwhelming either, and 140 calories for 1 serving. I also try to take 2 snacks to work, as well as lunch. It is definitely a challenge to keep my meals/snacks from becoming boring! I really want to be successful this time.

We usually have a bowl of cereal (Life or Cherios) with skim milk for a snack. I stick to the serving size (unless I'm way under calories for the day), but hubby likes a full bowl! I've been known to throw in some berries if I have them, too. It's much better than the whole package of Oreos we used finish off when we wanted a snack!

A few rye crisps with a laughing cow cheese wedge and a peach. Yummy and under 200 calories. I've made the past two days single-serving mug brownies..SO GOOD! I found the recipe here...it calls for 1T whole wheat flour, 1T sugar, 1T yogurt, 1T unsweetened cocoa, a pinch of baking soda, salt, and 1/2 t vanilla. Mix and microwave 60 seconds. I add a few dark chocolate chips on top...only 100 calories!

I crave salty or spicy snacks rather than sweet ones. At home, I keep boiled eggs in the fridge and will eat one with a tiny sprinkle of salt. But, I try not to eat too many eggs in a week, so I usually turn to popcorn when I want something else. I need to make a list of the possible snacks that I can have according to the calories I have budgeted for them and keep it on my fridge. Then, I can just look at the list and choose something instead of rummaging in the pantry. (I don't keep junk food in the house, but I'm amazed at what I can find to eat when I'm hungry and don't have anything in particular in mind.) You know, I don't think I've ever had string cheese (although I do buy the reduced-fat cheddar in blocks and cut off an ounce now and then for a snack). I may pick up some string cheese at the store this evening.

A rice cake (brown rice, low or no salt added.) On sale, the store brand is 2 bags for $3; there are 14 rice cakes per bag at under 11 cents per rice cake. I have rain checks for 12 more bags at the sale price, so I can get them between sales and never pay the regular price of $2.29 per bag! Each rice cake has 30 calories! I think of them as "cookies" - but they're much better for you. Each bag of 14 lasts for nearly 2 weeks!

Sometimes just a nice cup of almond milk does it for me. It depends how hungry I am though. I always have nuts and raisins with me in case I get hungry after breakfast Hummus and veggies is a good idea as long as you measure the hummus! I could eat a whole package of the stuff If I dont pay attention. If you need something just for home- freeze some grapes. The kids I babysit say its like 'grape icecream' and its more natural than frozen fruit bars (not that those are a bad pick if theyre no sugar added) If you find a good very low calorie (200 or lower) muffin recipe, that makes a great portable snack and if you freeze some you can make them last longer.

fruit flavored non-fat yogurt is my new favorite. I also snack on: lots of fruit-grapes, apples, strawberries, peaches etc (I buy whichever is on sale) low-fat cheese or string cheese cut up veggies dipped in cottage cheese (I sprinkle onion dip mix or cayenne or something in it) protein powder shake air-popped popcorn

I love apple with peanut butter or my doc suggested a protein bar - some of them taste like candy bars so I actually feel like I am eating bad but I'm not and they are filling.

For work, I pack myself at least two snacks so that I have them when I'm tempted. Usually it's 2T of hummus with baby carrots, or a reduced fat string cheese, or celery with laughing cow cheese, or a piece of fruit. It's over the weekends that I'm more likely to stray a little from these more healthy options, but I try to meet myself halfway by snacking on a Soy Lil Dreamer or Vita Brownie.

I have been finding that if I don't have healthy snacks prepared I turn to the bad stuff that is still in the house (i.e.: Ice cream, cakes, etc.) Fruit, nuts, etc. are easy to have around but truth be told I'm getting a little bored of the same stuff all the time. Do you have any suggestions? Both savoury/sweet things.
