"I am wondering at the science behind it."

There isn't any science behind it. Tosca Reno isn't a researcher; she's a motivational speaker and fitness model whose books are published by the publishing company she inherited. That doesn't mean "eating clean" is a bad idea. There's plenty of common sense behind it-- but no science. I would say follow the common sense part, like cutting out sugar and white flour, but don't worry too much about the part that tries to sound science-y. Three clean meals a day is probably just as good as five, and it's definitely better than junk food.

eating clean does not take that much prep work. I eat clean 90% of the time. it's all about planning. Eating clean is a life style and not a diet.

i can't say anything in regards to the whole diet plan [not going to read it, even though i'm pretty sure it's outlined in one of the cookbooks i have], but she has some fantastic recipes. as in very tasty and fairly easy to make.
also, as a grazer who eats about eight times a day, you don't have to cook and prep that much if you're eating that often, just reheat and plan a little. i live by myself and if i have a recipe that makes four servings, i'll typically make it as stated but divide it into 8 portions. one i'll eat then. i'll keep out three or four to have over the next few days and i'll toss the other three or four in the freezer to rotate in when i am not so sick of it.

-google first. ask questions later.

Eating clean takes a lot of preparation and you feel like you are spending your whole life eating. I felt like a new person within a week, though. I had more energy, I woke up before my alarm, I didn't even crave sweets!

Hi FIREFLY036

I just started reading the 'Recharged' book this weekend (my first exposure to the 'Eat Clean' books).
I like her ideas but would, most likely, only adopt about 70% of it.

The chapters she has on sugars and hydration were pretty sound - from what I've read so far.

There is an Eating Clean team here on SparkPeople and they are probably your best bet as far as information on Tosca Reno. I try to eat clean at home but I have never made it and don't plan on making it 100% of the time. I have heard Tosca's books are great but I know very little about them.

Has anyone out there tried the Tosca Reno Eat clean diet? I know it's a diet and not a lifestyle change, but I am wondering at the science behind it. A complex carb and protein at every meal (5 meals a day)? I don't have time to eat 5 meals a day, let alone to prep them! Plus it seems like an awful lot of food. I was just curious because I have read her book and wanted to try it awhile ago, but found it to be a bit too much. That and for someone who is preaching eat clean, organic food that will help your body and then gets breast implants I have to wonder...lol or maybe that is just my cynicism. I would like to hear what anyone out there has to think good or bad?
