I was surprised just how easy it is. Today I went further on my walk...4.5 miles. I am tracking my meals on this site also. Weight is back down. I'll wait until next Friday morning to weigh in again.

I don't think I could eat certain foods with no flour or sugar.

That's a similar plan to the one I followed, No Sugar No Starch. It also avoids flour products. My advice is to stay off the scale - only weigh once a month. Otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy. Let the fit of your clothes and your overall energy levels be your guide. Also track everything you eat. Wishing you continued success.

ODRISH - that still means you're down three pounds, that's great! It's highly unlikely that you actually lost five pounds of body fat in a week. Most of that was probably water retention that got flushed out of your system. And it's equally unlikely that you gained two pounds of real body fat since then. Your body is trying to come to an equilibrium with your new plan, and it's normal for your weight to fluctuate. Try not to let the scale get you down, but if it does you might want to consider weighing in less often.

Also - being under for calories one day will not necessarily mean a lower weight the next morning, just as being over one day does not mean you'll gain weight overnight, either. It's all about the long haul, so make sure you are getting enough to eat everyday or it could actually hinder your loss in the long run. Best of luck to you!

I'm not sure why, but my scale was up 2 lbs. this morning. I was way under on my calories for yesterday.

You're off to a great start! Check out the low carb teams. Removing flour and sugar is the basic principle behind Atkins, Dukan, etc. I think it's more about focusing getting nutrition from healthy foods (veggies, lean meats) as opposed to focusing on what you can't have (which is basically crap nutritionally).
