I'm in the same boat you are, only on day 2 and I've got a sinus infection so there's not much - if anything - I can do in the way of successful exercise. I've been doing better with what I'm eating for about a week but I didn't get really serious about losing weight until yesterday when I went to the doctor and got weighed. :( From what I've seen in the previous replies, you're doing just fine and don't put too much pressure on yourself. It's only been a week! I'm going to try to remember the same things. :)

This is a process, and no one is expecting perfection except you!

Lets look at this another way

- WOW! You went to the gym TWICE this week! Maybe next week you will add on another day. If not, 2 days a week is an awesome start!
- Well done! You recognized that you went over your calories, and you can start collecting ideas for how to stay closer to your range next week.

You will have a great week next week, I just know it!!

NIRERIN is right.

Let me ask you - how much were you eating 2 weeks ago? How often did you get to the gym?

If you ate even a little bit less this week than last, that's PROGRESS!!! I'm assuming you didn't exercise at all prior to this last week? So that's TWO more visits to a gym than normal! Yippee!!!

You're doing FINE.

You don't need to be perfect, and meet all your goals, immediately. If it's a big lifestyle change for you, it's perfectly fine to do it in small steps.

Someone who ate 3,500 calories per day and lay about on the couch every day would benefit from a week of 2,900 intake with ONE 10 minute walk. That's "better". That's on the right road.

So your eating and exercising this first week don't have to be perfect. You're starting to watch what you eat and become more aware of it and make better choices, and you're starting to exercise - that's a GREAT WAY to start! Well done!

Now keep that up and do even better again next week! :)

don't compare yourself to where you want to be, compare yourself to where you were. if you're making progress, that is what you should be focusing on, not that you haven't immediately been able to achieve perfection.

I just finished my second week, and felt the same way you are at the end of your first week. Now just one week later, I am not craving as much as before, and it starting to be easier to get up and exercise. Don't judge yourself to harshly this first week. The first week I went over my calorie range every day, and just yesterday I couldn't even reach 1200 calories.

Trial and error, and not being too hard on myself. I tend to over eat for emotional reasons so I tried to not "sweat the small stuff". If I go over, but I got some good activity in that day, then I let it go. Not every day can be a 1500 calorie day.

Remember, it's only your first week and there is definately a learning curve to being healthy.

Best of luck!

Hey everyone, This has been my first week with sparkpeople and i feel gross. I over ate everysingle day of this week and only made it to the gym twice. I am trying to stay motivated and stay positive that tomorrow is the beginning of a new week etc. has anyone else had this type of experience? How did you stay motivated and learn to stay within you calorie range?
