Most days, in some form. Sometimes it's a little more sweetened condensed milk in my coffee than usual, other days it's ice cream or cookies. I try not to overdo it, but I'm not always successful. At least I don't feel deprived!

I used to indulge in every meal, just having a piece of chocolate or just a bite of something sweet, but I've stopped that. I'm trying to keep it to a minimum and now only do it one day (only weekends).

I've been maintaining my weight loss for 2+ years now (for the first time in my 61 years!). I have two days of wild indulgence a month, and I'm convinced this practice both accommodates holidays and prevents food cravings from gaining a foothold. So far, so good...and my blood work's excellent.

I guess indulge isn't the best word for me... I try to balance my food choices so that no meal is an indulgence. I love food, love to cook, and live in New Orleans, a food city, so "indulgence" can become a well-enjoyed habit if not kept in check.

For Valentine's dinner, my indulgences were meatloaf, which I balanced out with roasted asparagus, roasted mushrooms, and a green salad, and for dessert whipped vanilla mascarpone cream, which I balanced out with blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries. It was delicious, but I didn't feel that I went overboard with other choices in place!

My one real indulgence so far is that I still take my coffee light and sweet. I've tried removing the sugar, replacing the milk with skim, using less milk, less sugar, etc., and I just don't like it any other way. So I limit myself to two cups each workday in the morning (I never have it on the weekends) and just work it into my calories. It does make my breakfast a little higher than my other meals, but not crazy high.

I am definitely an all or nothing personality as well, and I understand COMPLETELY. So after many binges and having big set backs when I can't get back on track because I feel too upset and rationalize ONE MORE TREAT DAY...etc... This is what I have tried, and lost a lot of weight doing. I am not saying it's healthy, but I know in nature, this is how most have to survive anyway. I work 4 nights a week, Monday through Thursday... 10hrs... keeping away from the fridge for that long is a boon. I USE IT. I eat VERY little on work days... only unbuttered veggies, nuts (in moderation), fruit, sugar snap peas (yum!), fat free yogurt cups, salt free/additive free/non-marinated chicken jerkey, etc. I do stress that I take NO responsibility for anyone as silly as I am to try it. I have a yogurt cup for breakfast, go to work, have either an apple, or another yogurt cup, or veggies, or some of each... On my days off, all bets are OFF. lol.... I do TRY and eat healthier foods, but that is my "work on it" time... each weekend I think I am doing better at controlling my binges, but I haven't managed it yet. The weight I gain over those days is gone by the end of my work week... minus a bonus pound or 5. :) Whenever I get a taste of good tasting foods, it's OVER for me... I will eat until my stomach is hurting... but still I am searching the fridge and cubbards every 5min looking for something ELSE to eat. :( But when you eat a lot at a certain time, your system has too much to digest and use every calorie, so some of those extra calories pass through un-used. But I would like to say my GOAL is to STOP my binges completely. Until that day, I am taking steps to kill the GUILT. Even if I do eat a bunch of junk or just extra food, I know that I will have it off by the end of the work week. The INCENTIVE NOT to binge, and to work on re-wiring my brain's habits, is that at the end of the week, if I do not binge hard... if I do BETTER, I will have LOST weight... not just maintained. But you do have to learn not to freak out over Monday weigh-ins... actually, I recommend ONLY weighing in on your "Friday".

I have one of my favorite things about once a day, in moderation...now, my favorite things include things that I can fake, like Chinese Food (thank you, Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine! Woo!) or ice cream (Skinny Cow, Weight Watchers!)...but yeah. Almost every day.

I limit it to organic dark chocolate (Taza mexicano chocolate...love!) once in a while. I've gotten better over time.

I will be camping next week, and will be indulging in some smores...though I'll limit myself to 1/day. Plus we're really active during vacation so I'm indulging a little isn't going to be a big deal. When I get home I'll be back to normal.

Every passing minute is a another chance to turn it all around.

In food terms, I have had some indulgences in the past week but they were all counted. To me the perfect low calorie treat is a bunch of flowers. I won't be tempted to eat them.

I just plan for something a few times a week. It usually ends up being a scoop of coffee and chocolate ice cream. I don't really consider it indulging so much as saving calories in my meal plan for something sweet.

Nothing changes until you do.

I am seriously not sure what "indulging" is.

If it is something on my food plan, I'll eat it reasonably unlimitedly. A lot of the things on my food plan are things I LOVE. So if I max out on them, no biggie. I LOVE seafood and quality yogurt, all healthy...

Things I love I really should NOT eat: Okay, potato chips. I think I've had them three times over the past year.

Things in between? It varies. I haven't had pizza since the summer of 2011. They are probably healthier than potato chips, but as I say, things vary. Soda? None recently, maybe a year. If I have a sugar imbalance I may need to do a one-shot ginger ale with real sugar. Dark chocolate? Yes, recently, but it in my book is sorta-bad, not real bad.

Got rid of the ticker cuz my scale decided to flatter me unduly. I haven't re-gained, just got a better, honest, scale.

Just because you steam it, doesn't mean you can't add herbs and spices. (A gripe at those insipid restaurant "healthy choice" menu selections.)

Whenever I want, which is about once a day. But I do it in moderation. This helps me not to feel deprived.

The key to me eating healthfully is eating mindfully. This means reading labels, making balanced choices, and most importantly, listening to my body's hunger cues.

I indulge almost every day and make no excuses.
The only time I don't is if I just don't feel like it, which actually happens sometimes! :) It's probably because I don't feel deprived or I'm missing out. And it's not like ice cream is disappearing off the face of the earth tomorrow.

I don't allow "cheat days" at all. My logic is that I work too hard during the week with my running/gym time and eating right to BLOW it in one day. With eating out and parties, I try to do my homework ahead of time and have a game plan going in to stay within my calorie budget. For me, it's a mental thing. Once I made up my mind that I was really going to do this, the will power kicked in big time! And I L-O-V-E to see progress! Sure, every now and again I want a cheeseburger. But when I do, I make my own and grill it at home for under 300 calories. It satisfies the craving without a run to Five Guys! And for sweets, one Dove Promise chocolate does the trick. Three weeks in and 7.5 lbs down!!

Good question, but rather hard to quantify. If you mean indulge in over eating, I say rarely. If it is eating foods that mess up my balanced daily intake, probably every couple weeks when I am out and away from the house. If you mean eating something I really like(steak), every couple weeks or so. If you mean something I like but know it is really bad for me(jerky, garlic stuffed green olives, other salty foods), rarely and in moderation.

So I guess I indulge often enough, but I make sure it is in moderation, rarely, and most of all, not a trend.

I question, therefore I think; I think, therefore I am; ........ I think?

I indulge when I want to! That being said, it's easier for me not to make a regular habit of it because I have a major sweet tooth, but I'm vegan. That means that most chocolate bars, ice cream, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods are off limits. If I want a sweet and delicious baked treat I often have to make it myself. That means time in the kitchen and money on ingredients, so I have to really want it! Often when I bake something, my husband and I will enjoy it (in moderation) for a day or two, then I send the rest of it with him to work, so he can share it with coworkers and get it out of the house!

When I do eat the sweet stuff, I usually track it and compensate for it in other meals for that day if I need to. That's easier said than done, for sure, and I probably go over my calorie range about two or three days a week, but not by too much.

Unfortunately, moderation is not in my vocabulary; I'm "all or nothing." So I'll be sticking to a plan and then - "BAM" - I'm stuffing myself for a week and feeling like a failure and a worthless human being. This recent episode has lasted a week, but I can feel myself coming out of it. I don't know whether to try to factor junk food into my diet responsibly or to try and give it up entirely (I know where I'm NOT successful). Like in AA, I know I'm only as good as my next Hostess cupcake. So I'm trying to figure out a plan where I can make progress. Any suggestions?

I do indulge with a glass of wine. But for real treats I am trying to use the "can I have this anytime or is it a rare treat?" i.e. cheese and crackers of Mom's extra special make once a year homemade ice cream

Every day!

I reserve up to 200 calories/day (of my daily 1550). For big events, like a wedding this weekend, I'll save up my calories for up to 4 days. (Yes, I shamelessly stole this plan from a recent health magazine).

My favorite ways to spend the calories are a glass of wine, a couple squares of dark chocolate, chips + salsa, a bag of chips, a coffee drink, or a visit to my favorite Frozen Yogurt place.

If I know I am saving calories for a treat at happy hour, it makes it a lot easier to dodge co-workers wielding boxes of doughnuts.

If you only indulge on Sundays, for example, Tuesday's temptations can become overwhelming knowing your next treat is 5 days away. Having a little bit of junk every day is a great way to practice for a lifelong habit of moderation and avoid the dangers "off limit" foods introduce to dieting.

I probably shouldn't admit this but I indulge a couple nights a week with a cup of cookie dough ice cream. I make an allowance for it. It's my favorite thing in the whole world and if I didn't indulge a couple times a week, I'd end up eating the whole carton at once.

I was doing really well until my husband brought home cream cheese brownies last night. It was honestly the first time in about two months that I had eaten some chocolate. I was brought up on chocolate which is a big bummer because I would have rather have been brought up on fruits and vegetables. My other weakness is crackers...although I am only eating whole grain ones now. Frozen yogurt helps my sweet tooth. I am trying & I will continue to try.

Like others, I indulge a time or two per week but try to keep it under my total calorie range for the day. If not for the day, then at least exercise enough so it's a zero-gain day or, if that's impossible, adjust to allow for the extra calories by adjusting the overall week's intake/exercise so I can keep focus on the goal without the guilt.

Realizing that no food is "off limits' has really helped me with my need to indulge. Just recently I was shopping with my daughter and the smell of the food court was overwhelming. We had plans to eat lunch there and I told her I REALLY wanted french fries.

My whole family has been helping me with my new life style so she ordered a small fry with her sandwich. I was so excited - but after two fries I didn't even want them. After lunch, we both had a good laugh about it. It was a really important discovery for me - and it's made it a lot easier to see food as nourishment rather than a "treat."

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. i'll always be with you.” Winnie the Pooh

A little too often! So I am working really hard at a clean diet, I'm just getting started and it is hard breaking the habits. I didn't cave in and eat the ice cream last night and I will take that little victory and hopefully with more small victories it will get easier!

Lately is in the past few days, it has been a lot due to Church picnic, and graduation open house on the weekend. And still some open houses this month. Then my own kid's open house here at home right after the 4th of July. I do try to stay within range calorie wise as much as possible, though.emoticonemoticon

Since I have no good answer for this question....and I'm not sure that there is a good one, I'll offer a book title that was recommended to me. Thus far, it's made sense.
The book is called:
Breaking Free From Emotional Eating by Geneen Roth

Even if you don't take her solution step by step, she has a lot of really interesting things to say.

I have one indulgence/cheat meal in a week. I try to make sure it is still somewhat healthy but I know myself and if I allow myself to begin the whole "oh it won't hurt to binge just this once" game I'll end up right back where I was. So I might cheat by having the whole sandwich instead of just a half or I may go to dinner with friends but I try to make sure I've had a light breakfast and lunch to spare some calories.

I would have to say that it's the same for me as @VICTORIA19651. I make certain now that if I do indulge that I keep it within my calorie range. Skinny Cow makes AWESOME treats that I just LOVE! Sunday I went to Wendy's and got a small vanilla Frosty. Still within my range, but I had to have some icecream so I sacrificed something else for it. I do like @JAZZERKIM's idea of having two pieces of dark chocolate nightly!

Everyday. After dinner I indulge in 2 pieces of dove dark chocolate which is about 80 calories. It is a routine I look forward to everyday and I really take my time and enjoy them. It is just enough to help me not crave cakes, ice cream, pie, ect.

I have to be careful with indulging because I can so easily start to binge and then I feel awful emotionally and physically. So I try to keep my indulgences within my calorie range, or at least force myself to list what I ate so I might learn when to stop. Overall I'm doing better at controlling indulgences than I used to and I absolutely believe its because of SPARK and all the learning that I've had.

I finally got it down to special occassions. Our church had its annual church picnic and I had one indulgence. When work has holiday treats in the staff lounge. I usually take home a buffet of treats and have them once a week during the holidays instead of every day.

Often, and liberally.

Not always necessarily with food. I feel indulgent when I take the time to read through the afternoon, have a hot bath in the evening or go for a walk with my bub.

As it pertains to food, I indulge when I feel like it, though always within my daily allotments. There's no use depriving yourself (everything in moderation, including moderation!) but there's also no need to go hog wild.

If anyone tells you you're not good enough, you're not smart enough, to give up your foolish dreams, if anyone ever tells you to quit -- you gotta make 'em wear a diaper on their mouth, 'cause man, they're just talking sh.t -- Shane Koyczan

I indulged yesterday and had lots of sweets, after an entire month of healthy eating.

I felt sick, sluggish, bloated, and extremely tired from it.

I am usually pretty good about indulging when the treats aren't right in front of me. I tend to mirror the eating habits of those around me, and in the case of living at home, I snack all night every night because my mom does and we have sweets and junky food in the house... it was easier when I was at college and too poor to afford the junk, ha.
However, I monitor how I feel after I overindulge and am learning when I need to stop. If I want a popsicle, I have one, but I see how I feel after I eat it. Sometimes, if I'm having a really rough day, I'll intentionally eat--like last night, I was exhausted after helping to run after a 2 and a 6 year old all weekend, so I had two packs of swiss rolls. I knew it was a bad choice, but I wanted it, and eating it taught me a lesson. Bellyache all night.
So, to sum up this incredibly long post, I indulge when I want to and am learning how to control myself so this happens less often.

there are so many definitions of "indulge". Sweets are necessary for me! I try to be reasonable and make healthy choices but I know that depriving myself results in binges.
Coming up with no-food rewards is a BIG issue.

I have treats every day, as part of my allotted calories.

Once a month or so for special occasions (usually some sort of party) I'll allow myself to eat as much of whatever I like. I do track after, and I find that I rarely go over about 3000 calories these days (my daily goal is 1500-1700). I used to eat 4-5000 in a day and think nothing of it!

For semi-special occasions, like going out to dinner, I try to be really conservative with my calories earlier in the day, and make reasonable choices at the restaurant.

Rewards:
-fancy masking tape all for me at 175 lbs -achieved!
-adorable new gym outfit at 165 lbs
-facial at 155 lbs
-laser hair removal at 145 lbs
-fabulously extravagant outfit including some Fluevogs after 3 months at 145 lbs!
-being fit and fabulous forever after!!!

I have a big pictue mentality, am I really going to give up ice cream for the rest of my life? Probably not, so I work it into my calorie range once or twice a week. I've also taken to buying bite-sized candy in big bags. I can have up to three per day if I choose and it's less than 200 calories. Sometimes I'll remake some of my favorites in a low-cal/low sugar form but I'm one who'd rather have one slice of uber-rich cake than four slices of cake made with sugar and butter from a lab.

As soon as I think I have to give up something or can only have it on special occasions, my brain screams "DIET" and I want to revolt. So I don't do that. Moderation, moderation, moderation.

Best of luck

Plan A (Regular): Once a week. I usually buy a single serving of any treat I desire like ice cream or chocolate. Given my history with binging it is not a good idea for me to keep bigger portions of any sweets/treats in the house because I know I will be tempted.

Plan B: If some special event (family get-together, going out with friends, birthday) is planned on that week, I'll try to time the indulgence around that. Portion control is still a must though, especially if I'm having a party with my male friends who can easily eat 2000-3000 calories in one sitting. emoticon

I have a huge problem with indulgence. At first, I used to indulge once a week then it turned out to be an everyday thing. So I stopped indulging in food and started rewarding myself with non-food rewards like a massage, a manicure/pedicure, a new dress or others. It makes me celebrate without the food.

Almost everyday,
I track all of my main meals for the day first to make sure I am having a balanced day, and then if I have calories remaining will add a small treat like a hot chocolate or a mini frozen yoghurt, both of which are under 100cals.
Any other bigger treats (for example we are having pizza for tea next week for a birthday dinner) I will factor the larger calorie intake into that days meals to try to keep within my calories :)

I try not to but tonight for example, the end of an extremely long weekend that has been full of fun antics with not only the 18 month old twins I am raising but also five of my grandchildren ages 11, 6, 4, 15 months and 13 months... Yes seven children under 11 years old... We walked, took pictures and played games through out the day and when we got back to the house I managed bathing 4 out of seven and by the time I was done with that three others were asleep. Needless to say this has been a very long two days for me and tonight I asked my hubs to pick up some grilled chicken from KFC which would not have been bad but he bought potato wedges too and of course I had to have a few....

Trying to live my life, getting divorced and raising my 13 year old and 21 month old twin boys here! Life is good.

I induldge once a week or so i find that it helps me keep on target the rest of the week. Also if i go tomany weeks on a strick diet then my loss slows down. If i cheat then it keeps up the rest of the time but thats me and doesn't work for everyone i know.

Been learning the hard way the past month.

What worked this week was to save space in my diet for a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich at night. That motivated me to stick with the plan during the day. One is not so much that it triggers my cravings.

I'm saving for a piece on wedding cake on Friday night. Can't do that every day or I'll lose control.

YEARO1 - sounds just like me...... work outs and exercise arethere but not at its best and eating habits have fallen back to some bad habits. I'm consciously aware that I am sabotaging myself but today is a new day and I am determined to get as serious as I once was when I lost that 35 pounds and felt SOOOOO good about myself.

Yep.....indulge? Too often but it stops here.

I am responsible for my own actions, therefore I hold myself accountable and in control

Too often--- hence me gaining 8lbs back. UGH.

Time to welcome spark back into my life. I used to be so picky about what I'd let in my body, and I've just let old bad habits creep back in. I've been okay with exercise (okay--- not spectacular), but my eating has just gotten sloppy.

Exercise = Endorphins. Endorphins make you happy!

Just because you don't see results after a day or even a week, don't give up. You may not see changes, but every smart choice you make is affecting you in ways you'd never imagine. (The same is true for every bad choice! Be careful.)

think its important to feel like your not actually on a diet so very important to indulge every now and then, sometimes ill leave myself a couple of hundred calories to buy something like a dark chocolate kit kat, but always one and i always enjoy every mouthful. so much more satisfying especially mentally than when i used to go to the shop and buy a huge bag of doritos and two choccy bars and some sugary drinks, would feel so guilty and horrible after that but now i can enjoy what i eat knowing im in control

I love eating, so even when I'm eating healthy I'm picking foods that taste good and that I enjoy. I think I would go crazy if I let myself suffer through a diet that deprived my of tasty food! As far as sweets go, I let myself have one small treat a day -- a couple Hershey kisses, a popsicle, etc and then I always feel like I get a taste of everything I like.

I feel like I "indulge" every day. I really enjoy all the food I eat. If I want something that's not really healthy, I take a small amount - try to keep around 100 calories. That way I never feel like there is anything I can't have. Today I just ate 1 oz of some delicious brownies my daughter made. I'm pretty sure that this attitude has really helped me lose weight. I also track everything I eat or drink and I use a scale to make sure I'm accurate. You have to enjoy life and if you want a bite of something - have it! Just don't have too much!

I have been away from tracking for a while and have been indulging way too much. I do have a sugar addiction, and once I allow myself to indulge, it can get out of control if I am not tracking. Why can't I just eat what I want???? I can't because I am pre-diabetic and I DO NOT WANT TO GO ON MEDICATION....... That should scare me, but I keep thinking I can get away with it. I am an all or none kinda gal. So, it will be next to none for me now. I need to get my priorities straight.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." - Galatians 5:22-23

Me too on the indulging not too much. But I did last night. I went to a concert in the park with my girlfriends and the designated driver and I went over by about 500 calories even though I thought I planned for it. But to make up for the overeating I did some dancing as well. All had a fantastic time so it was worth it. emoticon

I try not to indulge to often and when I do keep it within me range. But have stalled lately with loosing weight. Put it down to too many low cal muffins and cookies. Though have kept within my calorie range I been pushing the upper end of it. Sugary equals no good for me. emoticon

Since reaching my goal, I let myself have whatever I want on Friday and stick to healthy eating the other days of the week. I also give myself one day off from working out but I'm sure to make up for it the next day.

One day at a time...

When I plan ahead to indulge in a piece of cake or a large sandwich, I usually do fine. That happens during birthdays and family get togethers. It is when I lose track of calories on an average day that I go over. That can be frustrating. emoticon

I try to only have a "bad" treat once a week. Like today, I will probably have a Coke icee. But the rest of the week I eat right. Although some nights I will indulge in a weight watchers ice cream.

Motivation Mantra: If you’re walking down a set of stairs and you slip on a stair, you get up and continue your walk down. You would never get up and then throw yourself down the rest of the stairs. If you've "fallen" lately, now's the time to get up, forgive yourself, and move on!

TOO MUCH - LATELY! But I'm working on getting things back under control. I seem to do real well one day, then go way off the next. Now that I've gotten back to tracking my food (most days) & exercise, I'm getting better. I'm trying to take the attitude that I'm eating healthy for the day - one day at a time (if that's good enough for alcoholics, it's good for this foodaholic!).

I'm actually going to be able to exercise more now too, because I've just been released to do more - had rotator cuff surgery 6 weeks ago & wasn't allowed to move my shoulder at all until yesterday. Maybe I can join the gym soon - looking forward to being able to swim it off!

When I feel like God is far away, I have to admit - I've moved, not God! He will never leave me, because I am His own.

Once a week. Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and we are going to a fancy restaurant to celebrate.

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

Please read my blog
