My lunch schedule has me eating at 11:00 a.m. My son's baseball is at 6:00 p.m. Between getting out of work, helping with homework and getting my son to his baseball game there is not a lot of time. I need something quick and easy that will fill me up. Carnation Instant Breakfast does this. I use the no added sugar one. Mixed with skim milk it helps fill me up and hold me over. My diet is not blown. After I get home from the game I can sit down and have a nice meal.

Ditto to the water and greek yogurt, its working wonders for me. But even with it, today I was getting a bit restless when it was almost time to leave work, I kept thinking about food and was craving it lots, when I got home I took some water and did one of the SP 10 minute workout videos and now I feel great! No more anxiety for now.. Hopefully this helps! xoxo Katy

i have found that drinking a lot of water gets me from one meal to the next without being as hungry. I was also a huuuuuge greek yogurt skeptic, but boy do I notice a difference when i eat it. It took me a while to find a brand/kind I liked, but I have definitely noticed that when I eat it for breakfast (most days now) I feel full all morning, and it actually seems to influence the choices I make throughout the day. I don't go to lunch starving which makes a big difference for me.

I do one of 3 things, eat a small snack and immediately track it so I don't go over calories, drink water if I'm at or over calories for the day, or chew gum. Chewing gum helps with the needing munchies feeling and drinking water fools my stomach into thinking that it's full.

I don't fight it. I eat. My body's trying to tell me something. The key is to never to get to the place where I feel I'm "starving." That's a bad, bad place. Eat when I'm hungry; stop when I'm full. The body is a very smart machine.

I eat something small every 2 hours. 8, 10, 12, 2, 4 & 6 o'clock. I also drink a lot of water throughout the day, so I never really feel all that hungry. Unless I'm doing something that keeps me from eating at one of my predesignated times, but if that happens I just grab something small and healthy as soon as I get a chance.

I try to eat at least 5 times a day, when I wake-up, a mid-morning snack, lunch, mid-afternoon, and dinner (nothing after 8pm). This helps for the most part, but I still get cravings now and then too. Fluids help, protein helps, but distractions help me the most. If I feel hungry I will work out or start a conversation or do SOMEthing to take my mind off of it cause it's usually a mental thing anyway.

If it's hunger I eat. If it's cravings I try to distract myself. I will occasionally fast but only if my body will tolerate it. If I am fatigued and stressed and just plain hungry I will eat to fuel my body. Starving yourself is the wrong way to go. Make wise decisions when it comes to eating or not eating! It's always better to grab an apple if craving sugar or even better some veggies with a little olive oil.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I try to EMBRACE hunger. Hunger means my body is eating up that fat and I'm never gonna see that stuff again. YAY for hunger! Besides, it's a comfort to know that all day hunger doesn't last forever - at least it didn't for me. I'll feel satiated the next time I eat, and eventually you'll feel less hungry throughout the day, as your body becomes leaner and needs fewer calories to continue running efficiently. The sad part about that is that... if you have more weight to lose you need to cut calories again. Then you'll feel hungry again for a while. Yay for hunger!!!

I EAT. I make sure I am eating all day. I start with a whole grain cereal in the morning (Kashi Go Lean Crunch is a miracle food, in my opinion- Costco has the 'big box'). For me, hunger feelings lead to binging and cravings. yesterday I my stomach growled- I gave it an Orange. It growled again after dinner- I gave it an ear of corn. Now, when I have strong cravings for the bad stuff (can it get any better than In-N-Out burgers?!) I give it something else- and I am truly AMAZED that such strong cravings that I thought NOTHING else would satisfy are GONE.

Lots of great tips here already. As mentioned eat regularly and try to combine foods. Some easy snacks I try to keep to hand are: brazil nuts (just a couple) cheese strings fruit (fresh and dried) alpro soya dessert pots (good chocolate hit!) I also find drinking water helps - try this before snacking. Milky drinks (made with skim or 1% milk) are good since they give protein without too many extra calories. Personally I find too many veggies leave me feeling hungry! I need to balance a big salad with some chicken or nuts or whole grains too - lentils are good. One thing I have found is that whenever I start exercising my apetite really picks up for the first couple of weeks but then if I keep exercising and eating sensibly things seem to stabilise. The first few weeks are the hardest.

This happens to me every time I jump back into exercise. I have rheumatoid arthritis and there are weeks sometimes months mybactivitynis very limited. When I feel better and start exercising 30 min most days, I am starving 24/7. I understand. I suggest you up your protein and healthy oils like olive oil, nuts, avocado while staying at the high end of your calorie range and see if this helps. Limit artificial sweeteners as much as possible. I really did not believe the hype that artificial sweeteners can increase cravings but I finally bit the bullet and cut them out and wow what a difference. If you are still starving after upping your fats and proteins, add more calories by eating whole foods that take longer to eat like apples instead of apple sauce, corn on the cob instead of a cup of corn etc. Your body is just complaining about losing weight. It thinks there is a famine and is triggering you to eat more. Our bodies are not designed to naturally want to let go of extra fat. Hang in there.

I ignore it and drink water or tea. If it is time to eat, I eat only what I intended to eat - I can't afford to ever overeat, or I will completely run out of food. I have been hungry so much for years, since my husband's job disappeared. I'm used to it.

I have worked hard to stick to the 5 or 6 small meals a day, so I am eating every 3 hours. I eat breakfast at like 7am, 10am I have a snack like Yogurt or fruit, Lunch at 12, and around 3pm another snack and then dinner around 7:00pm. I try to drink as much water as I can a day to help fill full all day long.

1. Stay hydrated so you don't mistake thirst for hunger 2. Journal food and workouts to judge whether the calories are really needed 3. Wait it out for 30 minutes while doing something else ... hunger is not an emergency 4. Realize that my body may think the weight loss is a mistake and wants to help "solve that problem" for MONTHS after reaching goal 5. Ignore it if 1-4 are alright

At least 8 cups, or 64 oz, of water. Sometimes I fill up with water that I forget about the hunger. I never believed this would work for me until I did it for a week. And it does work. I try to eat healthy meals at 400-500 calories and a snack. Then I fill up on water at night when I'm most tempted to keep snacking. I think I'm feeling hungry - but actually my body is getting used to NOT eating too many calories. It's not that I'm actually hungry. Physical hunger vs. emotional hunger/ habit. I've had to learn the difference.

I make sure that I eat enough protein and fat (even if my fat intake is going over the guidelines a bit, I look at what I am eating and I don't freak about the fat numbers) at each meal and am eating vegetables breakfast, lunch and dinner. I make sure my breakfast is hearty and filling because if I don't feel like I am depriving myself at breakfast then I feel better all day long. A hearty breakfast to me is a half of a leftover baked potato, cut up and warmed up in a skillet, warmed up left over vegetables (if I have none then sometimes I use a table spoon of salsa),scrambled or fried eggs (depending on how many calories I want might be two eggs, might be one egg and one egg white), and a half ounce of cheddar cheese. Very filling and very satisfying.

I keep working for a few minutes, to see if it will pass. If it doesn't, I check my tracker to see if I'm low in the area the food I'm craving (for example - protein if I'm craving meat) . It that's the case, I go ahead and have it. Otherwise I have some water or tea.

If it's true hunger - stomach growling, been more than 3 hours since I've eaten, then I eat! My next planned meal/snack. If it's "mouth hunger" or a craving, I drink water then make a healthy substitute, or a portion controlled one: ie: a square of dark chocolate with some raspberries rather than a bowl of ice cream.

I try to do something with my hands that eating would interrupt, such as gardening, or knitting. I get involved in doing something that either makes my hands dirty so I don't want to eat, or something I need my hands clean for and don't want to eat to spare getting them dirty. Or a cup of tea.

I allow myself to eat whatever I want when I'm hungry with one exception... it has to be raw. I find that if I snack on raw fruits, veggies, and nuts then it satisfies my hunger and I never have to feel guilty about it (nor do I feel heavy or lethargic afterward). If I want something desperately but do not have a raw alternative, then I have it but only in moderation- which means measuring and looking at calories.

For true physical hunger; I eat as well during the day- if i feel hungry and I know it is not true hunger, but boredom or stress- I delay; I tell myself I can have it in 1/2 hour if I still want it then I try to busy myself with something else. So far, delaying has worked for me After dinner I brush my teeth so if I want something, I have to re-brush and re floss which is enough of a deterrence especially if I am emotionally hungry

To Mi-EllKayBee: When I was in college and was a single mother of a toddler, having enough money for food was a problem. Sometimes the cupboards were pretty bare. One trick I used was to use powdered milk instead of cow's milk. It works great in any white sauce, puddings, and more. I was very careful how I used fresh produce so I would not have to throw it away. I found though, that when I joined a church, and would have friends over to my place from the church, they always brought food. I got the left-overs. Then, when I would go to the church pot-lucks, I could bring home left-overs. Sometimes these kept me going for a week. I found faith, friends, family, and food in church. I learned to make batches of casseroles and freeze them in small portions. These were inexpensive meals that were ready-to-go. If I could get through the rough times on rice and beans, you'll be OK. I also learned to grow some in my home garden. We had small amounts, but it got me through college until I could get a better job with my Bachelor's degree.

I don't fight hunger. I eat when I am hungry, and that is about every 2-3 hours. That way I never feel hungry. The trick is to plan ahead for those small meals and snacks, and count them into your total amount of food for the day. Watch portion sizes. I am rarely without raisins and/or granola bar in my handbag. A banana and hard-boiled egg go out the door with me nearly every day along with my sandwich or salad for lunch. But I don't eat the entire sandwich at one sitting. I eat 1/4 or 1/2 of it for lunch, and eat the rest 2-3 hours later. Before dinner, I snack on fresh fruit, veggies, and/or cashews. But watch the portion sizes so you do not overeat! When I become hungry, I tend to overeat on whatever foods I can find. Typically that is not the healthiest option.
