I attempted to discover more data about the stomach torment yet so far just few articles allude to the terrible nature of the pill. I acquired an item with stars focused around surveys, I have to return it before it gets most exceedingly bad.

Again more bogus products that causes you to spend money when you don't need to. Oh green tea extract? Why not make yourself a cup of green tea for the fraction of the price?

Healthy eating and exercise needs to be promoted more than these products, most of them aren't even healthy for you, are expensive, shouldn't be used long term.. so I don't see the point, when you can just do it the normal way..sorry but there is no miracle product that will make you lose all your weight in 2-3 months.

Plus most of these products tell you to exercise and eat healthy while taking them, so the only success you end up seeing is the success you got from the fitness and food. Not what some extract or pill claims.

Hello
What brand did you buy? I experience horrible stomach pain and I have been taking green coffee bean pills (4 stars per amazon review) only for a week.

I started green coffee extract a week ago. I experience a stomach pain and bloating every day. Hoping it will go away buy it did not.
I tried to find more information about the stomach pain but so far: only few articles refer to the bad quality of the pill. ( I purchased a product with 4 stars based on reviews)
I need to return it before it gets worst :(

Have you tried the Green Coffee Bean supplement or have you heard anything about its success? I started it just today, and it does seem to suppress my appetite.

I ordered the green coffee bean "free trial" sample and I'm worried that it is probably a gimmick! I already called and ordered and did the cancelation, but I'm worried that it won't truely be canceled! Does anyone have any advice?! emoticon emoticon

I may have already answered, but I couldn't find the answer. I fell for the green coffee bean and all it did was raise my blood pressure. I am going to avoid it from now on.

I have to add that, yes, I am doing it the eating healthy and exercise way and that is working, but I do like reading the medical journals and am curious about several things.

I really have not used any supplements since I was a younger person, but have decided to do a 12 week green tea personal experiment and after a pause of a month or two, trying the 22 week green coffee experiment. Trying their time periods and dose ranges.

It is my personal experiment, but it is not because of Dr Oz. I am interested in some of the studies that were done. I guess I will see what happens.

I won't do it long term, just the study length of time and will check the same indicators they did: BMI, Waist circumference, Body Weight, Heart resting rate, etc.

I have been reading the green coffee and green tea medical studies and though I agree that the particular study on green coffee was too low a sample, but there are other studies on its affect on blood sugar and insulin resistance and things like that and helping things like that might work.

Green tea has a lot more studies, but does similar things, but there is a minimum dose for actual weight loss and it isn't a cup of green coffee or green tea at Starbucks.

I will use the green tea studies, because there are so many of them. 400-ish mg of the green tea wasn't enough to cause weight loss, but it improved things like cholesterol. Getting closer to 600 mg improved the waist size. The weight loss studies used higher doses than that.

I guess what I am saying is that you would have to know what you are doing to even try these things, but that both green tea and coffee have more than one study and not all of them are about product sales. (Yes, Dr Oz cites one that is such a small sample size that I agree it is iffy at best to quote that one.)

You can buy unroasted coffee beans in the store. Roasting them does not make them into a weight loss thing.

Just because this extract is in the Starbucks low cal drinks doesn't mean it does anything.

Dr. Oz has touted many weight-loss miracles. One of my co-workers buys every single one, and has not lost a pound. Meanwhile she keeps asking me what my "secret" is, and when I tell her regular exercise and just eating fewer calories, her eyes glaze over...... There is no quick-success pill.

I tried the Green Coffee Bean Extract because it worked for my mom but it made me horribly hungry! I only used it a week because my hunger which had previously been under control was totally out of control.

I am having huge, huge, huge luck with Now's Grapefruit Pectin. I was taking it on those days I am still to hungry because it makes me feel full. What surprised me is that it seems to have increased my fat burning. Now, I take it every day.

I'm trying a new dietary supplement drink containing an extract from the fruit Garcinia Cambogia which Dr. Oz calls "the Holy Grail of weight loss". I've noticed I feel better and I'm anxious to see the results in a few weeks. Any woman over 40 knows how difficult it is to burn those fat pockets no matter how much you exercise and eat healthier just to lose those last 10lbs. If anyone is interested in knowing the product please message me.

BTW I'm expecting to receive negative comments from this post, this is my body, my health and my money so it really doesn't matter if you don't agree with my choices

I feel there are products out there that work with people’s metabolism. Look at what happens when people take anti depressants. They put on weight. I my self lost over 40 lbs on a drug called Topomax when I was being treated by a doctor. I had no idea why I was losing weight. I did not change my eating habits or work out. It took me almost a year to figure it out and by that time I was experiencing the side effects from the drug. I researched it and found that weight loss was a side effect. However it does not take weight off of all people.
So maybe these green coffee beans are working in the same manor for some

I mean there isn't anything bad about it, its just all the bogus claims that are attributed to nothing but the caffeine in the premature coffee bean (green coffee). Distributors may try to argue about its antioxidants or a chemical in it but truth be told that has nothing to do with fat burning/thermogenisis. It's just a glorified caffeine pill, you can get them cheaper at Walgreens.

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.

I happened to notice the topic and had to see what everyone was saying. My personal thought is that you need to save your money. They make the green coffee bean, the raspberry ketones, and now something else sound totally amazing. I have not tried any of these (I am really surprised I haven't)...but maybe I am finally learning....a pill did not get me heavy and a pill is not going to get me skinny! Eating to much food put the weight on and so learning to eat proper amounts and not over indulge is what will take the weight off, but not some little coffee bean that costs $10.00 a bottle (yep, I have looked at them...just not bought them)! emoticon

You can bet the good Dr. Oz owns some part of some company that supplies green coffee beans to the world, same as Oprah............these people didn't become billionairs because of talking, you know. They follow the Barnum rule, there is a sucker born every minute, and it is true still.

Another "promise" to lose weight by a greedy manufacturer and good advertising..I have tried many pills and supplements along with books and plans, making the promise to lose weight, truth being if a "pill" really worked why aren't doctors recommending it to their patients and their are still so many overweight people. There is no such thing as a "magic" weight loss pill, though some relieve fluid retention and waste to make it appear weight has been lost. Save your money, put it aside for a new outfit for after you lose weight and need a smaller size! There will always be a New Pill/Supplement of the season claiming the same thing.

You are so correct on what is happening with the food industry and pharmaceutical companies. Europe has already been regulated on their vitamins and we have been fighting in North America. All the drugs you mentioned, I also researched. It is a shame more people do not take the time to do this and just blindly do what ever a doctor prescribes.

Also if more people knew what Monsanto was doing with are food, people might just wake up.kutos to you for trying to share the light!

Dragonchilde,

LOL Yes, they are awesome! I put avocado on so much stuff that I'm sure I eat some every day. They really satisfy that strange craving I get too. Too bad they're so expensive here in Ohio. I wish I could grow them!

Everything doesn't have to be scientific, especially when we find something as awesome as avocado! :)

Do you have any good recipes to share using them?

I get terrible sugar cravings. I know artificial sweeteners cause them and make my Lupus worse so I use stevia. I'll have to try your suggestion.

I also crave large amounts of essential fatty acids. I crave avocados, nuts, peanutbutter (which I'm allergic to), fish, eggs and seeds. I'm in heaven if I mix up a spinach salad with avocado, a couple pecans, hard boiled egg and sunflower seeds. It seems to help my weight loss but I have no idea why I crave such large amounts of it.

DESERTMOTH, I did not attack anyone in any way. If you would like to discuss my personal responses, you are welcome to contact me privately to do so, but calling me out in such a way is unnecessary. Disagreement is not the same as being rude. AISLYNN125 and I were having a passionate discussion about something, and when it was clear that we could not come to an amiable agreement, we both bowed out.

What's rude is calling out someone by name point out their perceived misdeeds.

I think that you need to research whatever you purchase & see if it works for you. Vitamins and herbs are not bad for you, but we have a lot of companies making inferior supplements. I have been taking them for years, and without them I would have little to no energy.

I have low thyroid, but whenever I am tested, my numbers are just above the line. When I run out and don't take Kelp supplements, I crave (sometime uncontrollable to me anyway) chips. I don't realize it until I start the cravings that I need to purchase more.

Gymnema helps sugar cravings, and their are others I take, but these have been the most beneficial to me.

MaHuang was taken off the market because too many people were getting sick and even dying. It wasn't the herb itself, it was the misuse of it. It worked really good as an appetite supplement, but was also good for allergies. I didn't necessarily lose weight on it, but maintained. When I was taking it, I didn't have allergy problems.

In other countries, they have herbs on the shelves instead of all the medications we find in our drug stores

I can not believe how some people are responding here. I was mortified how rude someone was...I think it was dragonchilde? Someone shares their professional work to only be constantly attacked? I was loving Spark People until I stumbled onto this thread. The poster sharing her knowledge was not making personal attacks. Really unnecessary and it put a damper on my day.

My experience has been pretty good, I bought a 30 pill bottle to try and after taking it twice a day(800mg 2x a day) which lasted me a week and in the past 10 days I've lost 10lbs, I've also been watching what I eat and exercising regularly, but I ran out 3 days ago and i notice I haven't been losing as much weight as i was when I was taking the pills, in the 3 days I haven't taken them I've only lost half a pound, but while taking them I lost about 2lbs every 2-3 days, I bought a bigger bottle so we'll see how well they continue to work!

Unless you are buying De-caff Green tea DOES have caffeine in it. Usually between 25-50 mg. Not as much as brewed coffee which can have 80-150 mg.. Green Coffee bean extract has about 20 mg depending on brand. emoticon

There is definitely caffeine in green coffee beans. Green TEA is caffeine free, but coffee beans naturally have caffeine. All they are are coffee beans that have NOT yet been roasted.

There is insufficient evidence of any kind that they provide any substantial weight loss effect beyond placebo, and the only thing you're *guaranteed* to lose weight in is your wallet. For every person who swears they lost weight with it (conveniently while also exercising and eating at a calorie deficit) there are dozens more who DON'T.

I would really be tempted to try the green coffee, but I have high blood pressure and am sure it is a NO NO without talking to my doctor. Anyone knows exactly how much caffeine is actually in the pills?

Here is the FDA's link to the food additives allowed: http://www.fda.gov/Food/FoodIngredientsPackaging/FoodAdditives/FoodAdditiveListings/ucm091048.htm

That does not include their color additives list.
Before the 1900's flour was not processed and refined. Heart attacks were practically unheard of. Shortly after refined white flour, all kinds of heart disease started happening. White sugar and pop are also big killers contributing towards obesity, cancer, sterility, heart disease and even ADHD. If you read anything I sent you, you'd see that I started with the proof of my words but you're right, this isn't a healthy conversation and I wasn't speaking to you when I made that statement. As far as I'm concerned, only a fool trusts our government and it's entities at a Federal level anyway. This was a message hammered home to me when my husband was dying in my arms and I couldn't get anyone to listen or care that last year of life while he was home sick in bed. THE SYSTEM FAILED US and I was left to raise our young children alone. I have personal experience with this and it was horrific to say the least. I'm writing a book about it I hope to have published after I'm done with the doctorate.

Most of our federal government does not care about the bulk of us. Many of them are on the take. If you need proof of that, just look around, you should be able to find plenty. Check out "Capitalism: A Love Story" for a well thought, researched and simply put message.

As far as being a social and/or political activist, I think I am in good company... people like Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Adams, Martin Luther King, Jr, Susan B Anthony,,, etc. I'm finishing a doctorate now in social sciences to help abused children and fix federal and state laws that fail miserably to help children.

So in other words... you *don't* have anything to back up your statement that the FDA is taking vitamins and herbs away from us to keep us from being healthy.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Save yourself the time of sending me a private message. I'm not particularly interested in your research; I am not disputing it, nor anything else you've posted. I was asking specifically about a statement you made and have not yet backed up. Specifically, this one:

"Now they're trying to take our vitamins and herbs from us because they don't want people healthy."

But, since you stated:

"Lastly, I'd like to point out to you that this is a free country with freedom of speech. I don't owe you anything nor do I have to prove my point to you. I was agreeing with someone else on this discussion board and it is simply too bad if you don't like it. "

This little red herring is unnecessarily antagonistic. I didn't tell you that you owe me anything, nor do you have to prove your point, I'm simply saying that unless you can prove that point, it is invalid. It's not my job to prove your point for you. I say you are incorrect in making one particular statement. You have yet to prove me wrong.

Since you are not interested in reasoned debate, and prefer instead to waggle around your degrees and other research, I am bowing out of this conversation and will allow you to have the last word, should you so desire. You provided a whole lot of links that don't have anything to do with the question I asked. That's a waste of my time and yours.

I wish you the best. I don't think it's productive for me to continue this conversation.

Dragonchilde,

I'll send in a private message copies of the papers I've written as requirements for fulfillment of some or all of my degrees. They contain on the last pages the formal references.

Also, I have signed formal petitions in person in the last few years to stop the pharmaceutical companies from making vitamins and herbs prescription only. There was a big stink in Congress about it in 2008. The bill was referred to as HR2900 and introduced by Senator Kennedy. Organizations such as The Alliance for Natural Health, Organic Consumer Association and I believe I signed the petition through the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

I have also researched other drugs such as Guardasil, Celebrex, and Vioxx. What I have found about their FDA approval is shocking. I'm a skilled researcher and almost finished my doctorate. I can't believe the lack of research supplied for new vaccines and medicines and their subsequent approvals. My children's pediatrician and my family doctor both adviced against vaccines like Chicken Pox and Guardasil because of a lack of research. It took them years to finally give their official okie dockie to the Chicken Pox vaccine. There are cases many times over in court where big pharmaceutical companies have been charged and found guilty of deliberately covering up potential fatal side effects. These industries have merely been fined. Europe's process for approval requires far more research and long term testing before they have approval and again, according to the UN, they're healthier than we are.

Nobel-winning economist Milton Friedman had this to say about the FDA: “The FDA has done enormous harm to the health of the American public."

Here are some interesting stories for you to read I found in a matter of minutes:

Lastly, I'd like to point out to you that this is a free country with freedom of speech. I don't owe you anything nor do I have to prove my point to you. I was agreeing with someone else on this discussion board and it is simply too bad if you don't like it.

"Frankly, I'm fed up with politicians in Washington lecturing the rest of us about family values. Our families have values. But our government doesn’t." BILL CLINTON, speech at Democratic National Convention, July 16, 1992

"“You have to choose between trusting to the natural stability of gold and the natural stability of the honesty and intelligence of the members of the government. And, with due respect to these gentlemen, I advise you, as long as the capitalist system lasts, to vote for gold.” George Bernard Shaw, 1925 Nobel Prize Winner

I was even at Walmart with the box of the green coffee bean in my hand. And then I saw the Raspberry Ketone. Unfortunately I fell for that one. So I put it back on the shelf.

Even though the scale has not been kind to me the past month. I will keep trying to do it the Spark Way

One of you that has arrived. Could you please point the way to Perfection?

You're welcome to provide sources for your statements about the FDA attempting to remove vitamins and herbs from us because they don't want us to be healthy. I'm not saying the FDA is perfect (it's a government agency - they're all corrupt) I'm asking you to provide references for the following statement:

"Now they're trying to take our vitamins and herbs from us because they don't want people healthy."

If you make a statement that inflammatory, be prepared for when people request reliable sources. I don't care what research papers you've written regarding the FDA. I'm asking you to provide references for this conspiratorial stuff.
