ghiradelli 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate chips. 16 chips has 80 calories and that is too many for me to eat in one sitting. It gets me over the "I need something sweet, now" moment.

I also make sugar free chocolate (any flavor) pudding pie in a reduced calorie graham cracker crust and top with a dolop of lite cool whip.

Or there are always skinny cow ice cream treats.

I am in control of the choices I make!

Hey there everyone, I'm a newbie, my first post. But I had to share with you the best snack that is very healthy as well. My sister-in-law's daughter is a health fanatic, for a nice snack that gives energy and fights the cravings, spread one tablespoon of peanut butter on an unsalted rice cake, drizzle one teaspoon of honey over that. Totally awesome and if you're really hungry you could eat two of these and get double the effects. I've fought my weight all my life and am a full blooded chocoholic so if this will curb those cravings for me it will do it for anyone!

Drink Good Earth brand Sweet and Spicy tea. It has no sugar or sweetners added and it doesn't need any! It is also caffine free. It will take away your cravings for something sweet.

Ooo, I agree on chewing gum. Wrigley's makes some gums that taste like desserts -- apple pie, strawberry shortcake, mint chocolate chip ice cream... It's enough to kick the craving while not really eating any extra calories!

I agree that if you're craving chocolate then you should go ahead and have a small amount of chocolate. REALLY GOOD chocolate. Very dark chocolate. Don't settle for a Hershey's Special Dark. Get something fantastic and have a small piece of it when the cravings got you going crazy! Don't chew it, suck on it until it dissolves. It'll be satisfying and you won't feel like you're denying yourself! emoticon

Keep on keepin' on.

Over the years I have come to the realisation that most food cravings are the result of having developed bad habits. Salt and sugar are two, which our western diet got us started on as soon as we learned to speak. We don't need extra salt or sugar in our diet if we are eating correctly, as our food contains more than we need already, especially if we consume any kind of convenience foods in tins or packages as both salt and sugar are heavily used for flavour and preserving. Habits can be broken in three weeks and the best thing that you could do for yourself is to have a glass of water instead of succumbing to your cravings, which will pass with time. If this requires more will power than you possess I suggest that you have whatever you are craving, be it chocolate or whatever and realise that your idea of gratification isn't as good as the reality.
Happy days!

Maybe you could use some extra protein or fiber in your diet? There are lots of protein/fiber bars out there that have sweet flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberries & creme, peanut butter, etc. Your tongue gets that taste of sweet it's craving, but your body gets nutrients that it needs so you don't feel so bad about it :)

Also, you can get some chocolate or yogurt covered nuts/legumes. They're sweet and you get your healthy fat in. I have dark chocolate covered edamame next to me right now :) They can have the pringles effect though (once you pop, you can't stop) so just take out a few at a time and put the box away. Trader Joes has TONS of these kinds of snacks, I think you can find them in regular grocery stores too.

And if you just want a normal-ish dessert, weight watchers and skinny cow both make small ~100 calorie desserts, I have tried a couple different kinds and liked them all!

I chew a piece of gum first and then if that doesn't help I drink some tea with stevia.
If that doesn't help I will go ahead and have a small, (moderation is key!) serving of what I am craving. I don't keep it in the house though so I have to decide if my craving is strong enough to get everything and everyone together and go to the store.

I keep a bag of peanut m&m's for when I am craving something sweet. With the peanuts in them they aren't allllll bad, just make sure you measure a serving or half a serving and then put the bag away. And when I don't have those, a 100 cal pack of almonds with a table spoon of choc chips is an acceptable substitute for me :)

Raw chocolate is fairly easy to make, and you can control how much, and what kind of sweetener goes into it. You can also flavor it. Just remember, moderation is key. If you are really craving something, having a small serving every once in a while is ok. You are less likely to binge if you treat yourself now and again.

If you really want to treat yourself take a chocolate cake mix, add one can of diet dr pepper (no other ingredients) and bake as directed. Take fat free cool whip and use as icing once the cake cools off.

A couple of prunes, a tablespoon of raisins, an orange. If you like yogurt, a low-fat yogurt. If the craving gets really bad, buy some weight-watcher deserts (approximately 180Kcal) and adjust your daily menu to squeeze it in somehow.

A banana is always good for me. It can be slightly high in calories (150 per large banana about), but compared to a small small small slice of dessert that would be 150 calories too, it has more nutrients and fiber for satisfaction.

If I am really in need of some chocolate, sometimes i'll have dark chocolate hot cocoa mix.

The first thing I do is drink an entire glass of water before reaching for the sweets. It doesn't always eliminate the craving, but it can take the edge off so that fruit will satisfy it rather than candy. If it's really, really bad I might cave and have a diet soda. Not the best health choice, but at least there aren't any calories.

When you cut soda from your diet for the most part, having it can start seeming like a treat.

Yoplait makes this great chocolate yogurt in their "light" line, and I like to take them and freeze 'em! They end up tasting almost exactly like chocolate ice cream, but "cost" a fraction of the calories!

Fruit is a great way to satisfy a sweets craving, too.

Instead of a biscuit or cookie, try a piece of whole grain toast (Sara Lee de-light-ful brand has 45 calories per piece) and a dab of strawberry jam (Smuckers has a sugar free seedless strawberry that is AMAZING and only 10 calories per tbsp)!

Everything we need is within - your body is the lock, your spirit is the key.

I always eat frozen grapes, frozen bananas, or frozen strawberries! I buy them fresh and slice them myself and place them in freezer bags with specific serving sizes. If that is not enough I make a frozen fruit smoothie. Usually using the same ingredients. Typically it clinches my sweet craving!emoticon

I eat two fresh medjool dates and 1 oz. of roasted, unsalted almonds, or for variety I substitute 1/4 cup of shelled pistachios for the almonds. Either way, it's absolutely delicious and is as satisfying as eating a candy bar!

FROZEN GRAPES. Nothing nixes my sweet cravings like frozen grapes, however any frozen fruit will do as long as long as it hits the spot for you. I will also do a fruit smoothie made with frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple and some orange juice (not from concentrate) - MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm, SO GOOD. It seems to eliminate all my sweet cravings. Now if I could just find some substitute for spaghetti;)

Good suggestions, I also keep fresh pineapple chunks in the refrigerator to help with my sweet cravings. Since I love chocolate, on my next trip to the store, I'll stock up on some chocolate pudding - low fat of course.

WW fudge ice cream bar if I'm being really decadent.

I love Fage 0% yogurt with 1/2 tbs honey and 1/2 to 2/3 cup frozen mixed unsweetened berries. I have that for breakfast every day, and I sometimes have it for dessert, too. Love it.

I also splurge occasionally on 1/4 cup of Target's Sweet Cajun Trail Mix. I love it, so I plan for 1/4 cup. That isn't much, but if I do it once a week or so, then I don't crave.

Quaker Choc Chip breakfast cookies - that's also an occasional indulgence which keeps me from craving.

And Emerald coco roast almonds also take care of my chocolate fix.

I also had to go cold turkey on sweets. I can't have just one candy or one cookie, I have to eat the whole darn bag.
So for me it's nothing or everything.
So I chose nothing.

In substitute I have a yogurt or piece of fruit or pop corn (or some combination) for my night time snack.
I like it because it doesn't taste like "food". It's not a meat or a rice or whatever. It's a nice reprieve for me.

I got this, I am a strong, wonderful woman and I can do this! I just need to remind myself of this every minute of every day.
